One-Shot/Short Story Comics

I'm a big fan of comics like Local, Demo, and Optic Nerve, series that tell single, one-shot stories in each issue. I'm not a fan of big mythologies or expansive storylines, so these always seem like my best bet. Are there any other good current (I'm not looking to spend 40 bucks on an Eightball back-issue) one-shot series like this I should check out? I prefer down to Earth kind of stories, but I can get down with superhero/sci-fi stuff if I don't have to keep track of a big universe.

Are you looking for miniseries too? Can't think of one shot comics worth getting but I could think of a few good examples of the former: Brubaker's Criminal, Morrison's Kill Your Girlfriend, Milligan's Human Target, you could easily pick up any arc of Constantine (All His Engines being a good start) and get along pretty well. Warren Ellis has a bunch of 'em worth checking out. If you want superheroics and can manage 12 issues, Morrison's All-Star Superman is as good as the genre gets. I'll probably think of other examples later.

EDIT: Ah shit, just realized you wanted CURRENT stuff. Criminal still is, and Constantine. I'm not much use, am I? Also worth checking out: Neil Gamain's The Best American Comics 2010. And Fraction's Casanova is starting up again I think.
