And it's cheap! See how the innovative system will let you play PC games on your couch.

And when their servers go down and all my saved games get wiped? What happens then?

I also think PC gamers love their mods too much to move to a system where they'll essentially be unavailable. Plus the game selection looks a little meager.

When this says PC gaming visuals it just means improved over what consoles can produce right now. Actual PC games have gone beyond mere 720p years ago. I see it, if it succeeds, taking market share away from the consoles, but mostly as a third option. Often bundled by your internet provider.

I'm a little confused...how is this different than Gametap? And will it work with Macs?

You're actually playing on a remote server and you're only watching the video on your machine. And it should work on anything with a browser that can play video.

Fucking retarded. Serious gamers complain even about the input lag a typical LCD TV set gives them (e.g. 60ms processing time). With this service you'd need magic to get it to anything less than <100ms. I bet it's more in the range of 500ms which means half a second delay. So you now can play your single player games with a laggy feeling you'd only get when playing multiplayer on a shitty server located at the back ass end of the world.

I don't think this will catch on, not in the next 5 years until the lag is sorted out and I'm doubtful it can be sorted out easily.

I also don't get why people think they still need to upgrade their PC every year or so? WTF?! I bought my last machine August 2007 and it still runs every game perfectly in 1080p resolution and full details. Buy something good and it will last. Especially nowadays when the console cycle means that gfx will not improve over a course of 10 years and therefore you don't need fancy GTX580 every year.
Any type of 9800GTX or 260GTX card will be mightily fine until the next Playstation and Xbox arrive.

People think that you have to upgrade your PC all the time, just because the US gaming press is retarded and tells them so. Simple as that. And the next console generation, when it appears at 2013-14, isn't going to amount to much more than medium powered PCs. TVs aren't going to get above 1080p resolution any time in the foreseeable future. 1080p is already mainstream for gaming PCs, requiring not much of an investment. I haven't spent a dime on my PC for more than a year and I'm already at 1900x1200 resolution with everything maxed.

So anybody tried this service yet?

You can use it for free on your PC and have a few games to try.

I was quite surprised, I expected it to look much more horrible and laggy. I was able to play Aliens vs Predators and it wasn't too bad. The video quality for Virtua Tennis didn't seem that great though.

The library is extremely limited, at this point however, this is mostly only worth it if you plan on renting games I guess. As a service to maybe own them, it makes no sense unless you don't have a console or have a very old PC. But like Vudu, owning "cloud based" (God, I hate that term) media is not that great of an idea because once the company goes away the money you spent goes to the great bit bucket in the sky.

Having people watch you while you play is ... creepy but kind of interesting.
