Great write up Joshua. I didn't like it as much as you, I thought the Shorts were conceptually stronger, but it's definitely a really fun time at the cinema.

Overall I dug this movie as we don't have enough dark xmas tales for my liking. Film feels a little too short though and also the big reveal towards the end didnt really deliver on what it threatened to show.

*Spoilers*

Would have loved to see that giant horned santa rampaging across the snow.

MORE SPOILERS

The final stages of the film are kind of a misfire in a couple ways. I didn't need to see the giant santa (in fact, I never actually expected to see it), but I did expect that we'd reached Stage 2 of the film, not the beginning of the climax. It was indeed too short. Although, I find it hard to complain about a movie being too short, considering how much worse it is when a movie is too long. With its silly ending the film is a bit of a trifle, but it is an extremely fun trifle.

I think younger people will really dig this film. I can easily see it having been one of my favs back when I was 12 or so.

The thing is that the ending feels like the prelude to the third act rather than a natural finale. We're literally introduced to the true nature of the threat and then five minutes later it's all over and done with. It just feels truncated.

I agree. That's what I meant by "Stage 2." Truncated, indeed.
