Frankly this is why as big a film fan as I am, I'm starting to slide more and more away from this endless daily news/twit/facebook/comment at convention realm.
Yeah, but this is an actual press release from a production that already has a start date.

Spielberg was ready to roll on this last year when Neeson's wife died; that was the given reason why it wasn't rolled into production last summer for a December release, Munich style. When that happened, Spielberg put it on hold and decided to do War Horse, which no has seen shit from, so pre-judging it at this point seems like a bit of sour grapes. But I see we're going to have to suit up for a few more years of people bitching about how much Spielberg sucks.

Lincoln DIDN'T sound like Gregory Peck???

If ever there was a prime piece of evidence against the introduction of the internet, that's it.

So Speilberg though he couldn't do LINCOLN? Well after his wife died he did THE A-TEAM, CLASH OF THE TITANS, THE NEXT THREE DAYS and UNKNOWN.

I realise that some of those wouldn't take very long, but he's been working non-stop since his wife passed.

Anyway, I hope they knock it out of the park.

Nope. More like Granny Clampett.

"Lincoln's voice was, when he began speaking, shrill, squeaking, piping, unpleasant."
William H. Herndon, in a letter - 1887

And I thought the real reason Neeson quit was because Spielberg kept going back and forth. It was happening then it wasn't. Probably just got tired of waiting.

All of which went into production mid to late last year, and other than A-Team and Unknown (shot this year), mostly glorified cameo roles. There was a small window for Lincoln to come together last year, in March, but Neeson wasn't taking work at the time. So Spielberg pushed it back again and ta-da, here we are now. In between now and then who knows what Neeson's thought process was; maybe he feels honestly disconnected from the idea of the role now, maybe it really is the age thing, maybe he's hired a voodoo priest to put a hex on Spielberg for waiting so long and then refusing to cast him as Peter Pan, who knows.

Maybe he didn't want to do something intense and serious. The movies he's done since his wife passed were fun genre stuff or action.

I apologize for bumping this thread, but I saw this manip and had to share it.

If you weren't sold on the concept already:
