ANOTHER GREEN HORNET TRAILER

Thread Starter
Brand new Hornet.

Wha? Didn't this already get released and is out of theatres? Jesus they should just shelve this.

I'll watch this, but I'm still hurting over the loss of a Stephen Chow-directed version of The Green Hornet. Honestly, the next iteration of this property should jettison Britt Reid altogether in favor of a "This time, Kato is The Green Hornet" plot. You get a brand name and a definite costume mixed with a character who is a martial arts badass. You also easily lose the Asian manservant angle, which is a relic of the past. Of course, who plays Kato is important. I like Jay Chou enough, but I'm not sure if he's right for this role.

Of course, I suppose a Hollywood movie still needs a white lead to cater to predominantly white American audience, but a Hong Kong version of this would kick ass.

Singing Party Animal Rogen at the beginning is annoying, but I think he's supposed to be.
Kato's ONE INCH PUNCH at 1:25 makes this better than the first trailer.
I'm gonna see this. Cast + Director = worth checking out.

Refresh me - shot in 3D or post converted?
Post Converted.
2D it is!
I like Rain (from SPEED RACER and NINJA ASSASSIN) quite a bit. I think he'd make an excellent man servant for the sequel

Anyway, this looked amusing enough. I thought I'd gotten sick of Rogen but he seems affable and good natured in this trailer. I do wonder if the movie has a chance of success though, and if GREEN LANTERN will generate confusion in the market place
post #10 of 32
It looks fun. Not sure if it looks $12 fun, but fun. And yes, it looks better than The Green Lantern at this point.

Post. But they claimed it was "always intended" to be done in 3D. Even though nothing was ever said about it during its long development. Sure it was.
Looks better than the first trailer. Or I'm just too tired to fight it.

So, the 2 "Green" superhero flicks coming soon are about irresponsible priveleged playboys who learn to be a hero through inheritence?
I was never going to see the movie in 3D, but supposedly the post conversion is a mess:

Which is why I wish Reynolds would have been overlooked and someone else brought in to downplay the smirky pilot angle.

Jeremy Piven as Green Arrow!

Awesome. You know, funnily or sadly enough, the only thing I know him from is Seinfeld. I see he did voice The Elongated Man in some JL cartoons. Although I don't even see him playing a live version of the character.
Not worth too much to start reading into yet, but the word is from the test screenings that the movie is actually good.
Fuck it, it looks fun.

And yes, better than Green Lantern.
Gondriest shot?

I kind of feel sorry for the villain. Rogen has Kung Fu Terminator Kato, a gas gun and a souped up car with a billion weapons. Christoph Waltz has....a desert eagle that splits apart or something.
hmm. I actually enjoyed that. At least they're not ripping off Iron Man as obviously as Green Lantern is.

Even though the writer of the article you link to (who can't spell the director's name right) seemed to be attempting to criticize the post-converted 3D, his description of it makes it sound like a wholly deliberate stylistic choice, despite his evident distaste for it. Post-conversion typically looks like shit when you try and ape the look of a real 3D movie. His descriptions make it sound like Gondry isn't necessarily trying to do that.

What is a gimmick is the way 3D over-emphasizes everything else. I mean, everything. An extreme close-up of Kato's face has more depth than a Victor Hugo novel. Spit flies towards you like that stupid blue robot thing in Muppets 3D.

Then it gets weirder. Kato shatters a car window and glass flies at first a few feet, but then continues off the screen and further still into some weird inbetween plane of existence. The glass looks detached from the movie and reality.

I would say the film wants to be in your face, but it's not in your face. It's in who knows where -- the 4th dimension? Watching the footage is the best cure for not having a headache.
Michel Gondry using 3D to depict a fourth dimension in-between planes of existence and detached from reality? Sign me right the hell up for that; the author's headaches are not my concern.

I'm no marketing guy, but I still don't get how you don't use "Flight of the Bumblebee" when you're selling the Green Hornet.

Then again, they probably don't want an old fart like me showing up to this movie. Sorry kids, I'll go back to my nap.

Maybe it'll turn out interesting, but so far all of these post converted 3D movies have been shit. I also remember seeing some tweets from Devin and some other people about the Hornet 3D footage and they weren't kind.
Gondry in 3D means I show up. That's just how it works.
Yeah. I'm in.
Sod the buzz, that looks like fun! I liked the comedy, the stylised Kato beats look interesting and cool, and there's a zest and spirit about it. The final film could be a heap of shit but that trailer was enough to sell me a ticket.

This x 1000,000.

Someone actually using the post-conversion process as a creative tool? Outrageous! (loses Monocle)
The fight scenes look to have a very Gondry sensibility, which is what I woul hope he brought to the table.
I am as excited for...Green Hornet, as I was for, Scott Pilgrim, that is...not at all. The big problem with Hornet is also the same as Pilgrim, the lead actor. Seth Rogan as a...Superhero? I wish that the original series was available, as that would be better. No way in heck is this better than...Green Lantern. Green Lantern looks like it will be the...Best DC comic, adapted for film yet. An Intergalactic Superhero, with a dynamic lead, is the film that makes me...Green with envy. Shot in 3D, is another plus.

That should be Dennis Hopper in that pic, who screwed that up?!

Oh

This actually looks like it might be fun. Not great, but fun.
