Duncan Jones' latest gets a trailer.

The "Groundhog's Day as a thriller" concept seems sort of worn by now, but I have faith that Duncan can bring something new to the table.

Worn?

And wasn't this script highly touted?
Wasn't there a TV show or two with that premise? Also an episode of X-Files.

My first thought upon seeing the title was "isn't ALL source code manmade?"

Anyhow, sign me up, I'll be seeing this in the theaters for sure. After Moon, I'm pretty excited about another Duncan Jones movie.
I appreciate what MOON was trying to do, but it kind of left me cold. A good part of that could be chalked up to it's lead though, and since the premise of this movie sounds intriguing I'm willing to give it a shot

My one concern would be Gyllenhaal, whom I used to be a fan of, but who sunk in my estimation after POPTSOT where he was extremely bland and not Persian. Hopefully he can correct that in this film
post #7 of 23
Wait, he's supposed to correct that in this movie by being Persian? How can he do that?

He's not Michael Jackson and able to change races!

Edit: Looks kinda like Deja Vu. I liked Deja Vu. And Moon was great.

(it was a joke)

Yup, Retroactive, 12:01 and episodes of at least 3 different TV shows. Though hopefully this is different.

I have things for both of these actresses. That's the technical term right? "Things"?

Also, why are there trains in this but no Denzel?
If I'd seen this trailer cold, I'd have thought it looked like an above-average, and possibly thoughtful, Hollywood sci-fi action pic. Knowing that it's from the director of Moon, though... well, I hope that means that there's more here than meets the eye. Though I guess that even if there isn't, I certainly don't begrudge Jones the payday of an above-average Hollywood pic. He's earned it.

12:01's the dude from Bernie's, right?
Yeah, Jonathan Silverman. I remember it being pretty decent, but I haven't seen it in ages.

Yeah, pretty much what I was thinking, except that I think this looks like a better, more interesting version of Deja Vu (but I liked Deja Vu too).

For all the remarking about how this is Groundhog Day: The Thriller, am I really gonna be the first one to adjust that statement slightly to be Quantum Leap: The Thriller? There's even an "Oh boy" reflection shot in there!

Jeffery Wright is Al. Vera Farminga is Ziggy.
But will his next leap, be the leap home?

Still, if there was a remake of Quantum Leap with Jake Gyllenhaal, Jeffery Wright, and Vera Farmiga? I would watch the hell out of that.

My thoughts too. Couple of my favorites.
Looks interesting, and has a pretty good cast. Though have to admit was sold as soon as it was mentioned that it was a Duncan Jones' film.
I've been commenting on the trailer in THIS thread, but my general feeling was excitement until the love interest stuff crept in. The film is intriguing enough without that angle. Still, Moon was so good, and the cast in this is stellar, so I hope that its more than the trailer makes it seem.
So wait, is this the film that was going to be set in the same universe as Moon that was going to kind of be Jones' homage to Blade Runner or is that something else?

Cause I thought he was doing that film next and now I'm confused.
He couldn't get funding for that one (Mute); this is a different flick.
He's still planning on doing Mute next, right? I mean, provided someone will pay for it.

Phew, thank Zeus.

So that's still coming eventually? Cool.

This looks like a fun night out at the cinema at the very least. Jones attachment (and I do love me a bit of Wright while we're at it) will make it a must watch.
