I mentioned in the Lohan gossip thread that I think this film and the filmmakers are bullshit and that the courting of Lohan indicated that what they're really interested in making is a piece of exploitation, which is fine, I guess, and I feel the casting of Akerman kind of confirms that.

Also, as the article mentions, it's based on Ordeal, Lovelace's bullshit-laden biography. Yeah, this is probably going to be nothing more than a "high end" pause-n-toss movie. They can keep pretending though.

This film would be alot more interesting with someone like Michael Winterbottom at the helm and I'm not saying that because he made 9 Songs. I think he could really make this rise above any exploitative elements.

Damn good call. THE KILLER INSIDE ME agrees with you in the sense of rising above the exploitative elements, but I'd love to see a TRISTRAM SHANDY-style take on Lovelace

The story I read on Huffpo included a note from the films producers saying they had to let her go for insurance reasons, but Lohan understood and it was a mutual decision

Anyway, not sure this film would have been a good idea, but I feel sorry for her and hope she gets her life in order. Sadly at this point I think the damage to her career may well be irreparable. Oh well, she got a shot at the big time at least, and that's more than most folks ever get
