Trailer for the Matthew McConaughey drama.

Looks reasonably entertaining if a little generic. But I'm a big fan of Connelly's work so I'm optimistic. Good cast.

For what it's worth, Connelly saw a rough cut and liked it:

"The movie comes out March 18. A couple days ago I saw an unfinished cut of it and could not be happier. I thought it was very loyal to the story and the character of Mickey Haller. Matthew McConaughey nails him. Those who loved the book will love the movie, I think. Those who don't know the book will love it just the same. The casting and acting is really superb. Like I said, I could not be happier. I'm very excited and can't wait to see what fans of the book think."

It certainly can't be any worse than the last movie adapted from Connelly's novels: BLOODWORK.

Looks a lot better than Blood Work, that's for sure. McConaughey looks reasonably intense, and Phillipe looks pretty smarmy(but is probably a red herring despite the fact that I hope his character really is awful).

William H. Macy and Michael Pena looking like the worst kind of malcontents? Sign me up.

Whoa, Spielberg's fast with the footage!...oh.

That looks like a remarkably generic trailer for one of the best crime novels of the last decade. Kind of disappointed by the trailer, but I hold out hope that the movie will be good. Also, not to be that guy, but there's a typo in the main page article, Michael Pena, not Michael Pare, is in this. I say that because I was kind of excited that the latter might actually be getting work again, and was disappointed when he wasn't.

Josh Lucas? Really? That cast and Josh Lucas?

After watching that trailer, I am left with one thought: "So, what's this about?" It throws a bunch of standard nitty-gritty slam zooms and people looking intense, but gives nothing in the way of a plot or a character to hook us with. Looks like a Billy Ray film without the finesse. And I say this as someone who likes it when McConau**** plays it straight and dramatic.

I wouldn't have picked McCougnaghey, but it looks decent enough. It's a great book. It took Connelly years to write it and really comess off as a labor of love.

Not sure that I can ever buy McConaughey in this role. Only thing I ever liked him in was Lone Star. I guess that we will see, but I'm putting my money on this movie being a stinker.

I noticed this too, but a quick look at IMDB shows that both Pare and Pena are in this.
