One or two people get shafted, but they usually get gifts from other chewers regardless.

Nick, I apologize for the confusion. As I know many Chewers, including yourself, have both home and work addresses, I wanted to make sure that I was sending it to the right place. We all know that people have had issues about gifts/packages getting stolen if sent to work.

That being said, I was a little peeved that you would think -- before I even tried contacting you -- that I was going to screw you over. Your first post in the other thread after the pairings were made was as follows:

But I did reply to a few PM's with you about the exchange. You didn't keep following up, and as I now hear it's not the first time you've been a little slack with the exchange.

As for the 'Crazy Rath' shit, I never participated in it and defended you so many times against certain folks who are no longer here.

As for my stuff lately, well you earned it. You flat out earned it, and it makes me wonder if you just HAVE to lapse into being whatever it is that you become from time to time that makes it hard to accept.

As for the gift. It's not about the gift. It's not about the gift at all. The exchange at its purest is a chance for this typically solid community to do something tangible and physical for each other. Don't make this out to be something about me being mean to poor whittle Brendan. I made those comments because you fucking took years and shat on them.

The only good thing about these flare-ups is that it reveals new folks who I never knew had a hard-on for me.

I'll respond to the rest when I'm still here, particularly the charge that I've been slack with the exchange*, but this is a flat-out lie, and I can prove it.

*I have, but when it was brought to my attention that I wasn't doing it properly, I attempted to make amends with past gifters, and I also PM'd Justin before signing up for this year's exchange because I'd gotten Chris's gift to him out late.

You're right actually. We PM'd about the Chudstories two-step. My PM's were actually with someone else having a laugh about you getting my name and what would be sent. My bad.

But yeah, you never made another outreach. And my email and every other way of finding me are all over the site. C'est la vie.

It's all good. Shit happens, but we cool. I'm sad to say I haven't gotten around to reading them yet, but they're on the pile.

I PM'd Justin when I hadn't heard from you. He then asked you to send me your information publicly. When I tried to explain why I'd been such a grouch and put this whole thing to rest, I ended asking you to contact me with your information so I knew where to send it.

I tend to use PMs as my mode of Chud communication, as the times I've tried to e-mail you (like when you asked for script submissions), I never heard back -- not even a message received note -- and I'd had better luck with PMs in contacting you.

I genuinely didn't mean to screw you over. I think this was a series of miscommunications and misunderstandings that's been compounded by what's a difficult and stressful time for us both, a time that's probably bled over onto the boards in ways that were less than constructive on both our parts. Can we try to put this behind us, and move forward into 2011 by just talking about movies?

So Judas Booth got me the biggest damn bottle of Bulleit that the liquor store had available. The old guy working there didn't want to let me out of the store with it even though I insisted I'd show him my I.D. and that I called ahead. He ran around the store for about ten minutes after telling me that he wasn't letting me out of the store with something that big without checking first. All ended well.

Ludwig's gift is lost in limbo.  I ordered it in November, they said "Please wait 6 to 8 weeks for dlivery," 8 weeks was last Tuesday and he still hasn't received it (and I still haven't gotten any sort of shipping notification).  I've e-mailed the people from whom I bought it and am waiting to hear back.  This guy ain't a happy camper.

Whirlybird also sent me the new Mountain Goats CD. Unnecessary, but appreciated. I've heard good things but never really got into them, so this will be a nice starting point. Thanks!
