Through some sort of strange message-board telepathy, Will Kane was able to discover two things on my "I really really really need to get around to getting" list.

I've been wanting to read this book forever and The Larry Sanders Show is one of those that I (mostly) missed in first run but have always been meaning to catch up on. This is a categorically perfect gift. And it's themed! How cute! A million thanks for you, sir.
Part 2 of the gift arrived. When asked what I wanted, I told Teitr to surprise me with something that lets me know about who he is. Well, I know know he's in the Air Force and is in a pretty freaking awesome rescue unit! I received two t-shirts and a key chain. Apparently folks get green feet tattooed on their body after their first rescue. Thanks again, Teitr! I appreciate all that you've done.

The squads emblem.

I had a much better shot of the shirt, but this is the only photo that got the "Get Lost" part of the keychain to show up clearly.

Back of shirt.*

*Photobucket is acting up and won't let me rotate for some reason, but you get the idea.

Glad you like, sir! Part 2 should arrive soon (in the same vein as those items).

Apparently the economy didn't hit some of the generous mofos around here. Good on yahs.

Yeah, that's the good stuff...I'm glad you like them Diva, and that they fit.

It's been said already, but all the gifts have been great. I'm glad I got involved with it this year. I have received half of Spike's gifts, but I'm waiting on the second half to arrive before bragging.
Holy cow! What an insanely generous lot you all are. This thread astounds me.
Stick around for next year and participate!

I'm always too intimidated to join this thing. I see what people send each other and I know I'd be like "Um, here, I got you a Flowbee. And some pogs. Also, here's a picture of me and Matchstick from four years ago."

ETA: Though it warms my cranky old heart to see how awesome everybody is to each other.

I kind of feel the same way, but I dip my toe in anyway. I figure whatever I get my match will have more stuff than they did before the exchange than if they hadn't done it at all, so it's still a net positive for them.

You can't go wrong with two DVDs. That's pretty much what I send every year because I'm brokey ass brokerstein. But honestly, anything is appreciated. No one faults people for gifts they send. We truly are an accepting bunch in that respect.
A cliché, but truth nonetheless: It's the thought that counts.
I kinda wish I signed up, and then sent someone something really crappy and watched them try to be thankful in here, and then followed up with something kick ass just to fuck with them.

Like, "Oh hey, I got season 6 of Buffy on DVD and what appears to be a used copy of Dear. Mr. Henshaw. How did you know thats awesome thanks."

And then 3 days later, boom, you get a blow job.
It's not just BUYING stuff. I'd much rather get personal stuff or a cultural thing or something from the home town you are at than something expensive. I'd personally love a picture of Misfit and Matchstick from 4 years ago.
If I received a picture of Parker and a friend as a gift, I'd ask for a new partner. C.R.E.A.M.

I'd just like to say how much I enjoy Raspberry Leper's posts.

You know, for next year.
Yeah, I wasn't referring to the amount that people spend so much as the thought that goes into so many of these. You guys are awesome. I know I'd choke and send a copy of Miracle Beach on DVD.

Which would be my dream gift, actually.

Tati, I can swing this. I'll send it once my Blu-ray player arrives from you. Please post the tracking number when you have it.
Also a picture of Denzo the family iguana please thanks
post #71 of 199
Doc Happenin' was doing some mind reading when he sent me this awesomeness in the mail.

There were a bunch of episodes on here that I never saw, and I only had the standard packaged versions of the others. This is just a friggin' fabulous Christmas gift that I will proudly display among my library of films.

Thanks, Doc!
I wanted to just send you a skull, but realized you'd be in kind of a bind when trying to explain where it came from and from whom, so I figured disguising said skull in the form of movies would make the story go down easier.

You're welcome, sir!
Mr. Cellophane (Brandon) spoiled me this year! He shared what he enjoys and for me that is the perfect gift.

Have not seen this movie yet and it was on my Christmas wish list. Great choice Brandon.

Can't wait to watch this as I am always looking out for new movies or television series to watch. I'm a big fan of Danson so this will be something I'll explore this weekend.

No one wants to play Sega with Harrison Ford print by Brandon Bird. I absolutely love it and this gem will be framed before the day is over.

Thank you so much Brandon for these wonderful gifts.
Yeah a few years ago before I was making stupid money, I hand-made my gift exchange gifts and I think (hope) the recipients liked them. Mostly it was a lot of digital stuff, but this was back in my super pirate days. An interesting correlation: the year I stopped pirating was the year I got better with managing money, and it led me to the greener pastures I enjoy today. There is a certain mindset you need to be in in order to pirate as much as I was that is ultimately limiting in every way.

Having said all that, I will be crushing Teitr this year with money spent and manrapes committed :P
post #75 of 199
Dammit Ludwig - you got me excited that your gift had arrived as that "6 to 8 Weeks for Shipping" has me REALLY bummed out. But I do support money being spent and manraping. So huzzah.

Also Eileen - Bored to Death is an AMAZING show and Danson fucking knocks it outta the park.

JGButler's gonna be happy!
Eileen - I'm very glad you received them all, and that you are pleased. A very Merry Christmas to you!

Jeremy - Danson is incredible on that show. Flat out astounding. Season 1 takes a little time to get going, but once Danson and Galifianakis get together it's golden. And while I really like season 1 it's season 2 that made me fully fall in love with the show.
Eilleen...that's a BITCHIN movie. Enjoy.
Best movie of the year!

Yesterday, my package arrived from Justin Clark, but I didn't get a chance to open it until around 12:30 today, since it took my lazy ass that long to go claim it.

He sent...

...the occasional comedy....

....a solid mystery thriller....

...the occasional documentary....

and...

MOTHERFUCKING INCEPTION

I don't even own a Blu-ray player yet (paging Teitr), but my mother knows that it's the one gift I really want this year, especially since I sold my Oppo DVD player a couple of weeks ago in preparation. These films will go quite nicely with the handful of other films I have purchased on Blu-ray so far.

Thanks for your generosity, Mr. Clark!
Yeah, Inception may be the first Blu-Ray DVD I buy myself. Great haul you got there, nooj.
I wasn't a part of his sickeningly sweet display of Christmas Cheer! (jealous) Hahahahah

EDIT: Don't rub it in my face, you remote controlled X-mas Pterodactyl!

I don't actually own a Blu-Ray player either. Heh.

The Handsome and Scholarly Will Kane's 2nd Gift arrived today, and it thrills me for a couple of reasons...

First - THIS is the era of Saturday Night Live that will always have my heart. Moreso than the 90s, the 70s and 80s SNL is one of those magical things from my childhood (I don't care if I wasn't born until 1980, they had reruns!). Secondly, whomever owned this book before me obviously enjoyed it and got a lot of use out of it - the worn dust jacket, dog-eared page corners (<3) - that's how a book gets its soul - you can't recreate that on a Kindle.

All the thanks for you, Will Kane. Not just a million, or many, but all of them.
Glad you like it, JG. I absolutely love behind-the-scenes showbiz books and this is probably my favorite. The stories are pretty classic--anytime the Hells Angels show up, it's gonna be a good time.
Gift: Received. I'm gonna be jerking off for weeks! And that's not even counting the porn DVDs, haha.
Yeah, those Atari Force comics were pretty sweet.
I got my gift from Carpet yesterday:

From my wish list. Can't wait to see it in action. Plus, there was a witty little message from her that my wife got a kick out of.

Thanks, Carly!

Gift number 2 from Anya arrived a couple of days ago:

I was thinking about firing it up on Instant because of the recent thread... but... well...

This is a MUCH better idea.

Anya = good people.

I still need to see WINTER'S BONE. It's been in my Netflix queue for a while. BORED TO DEATH is an awesome show. Very quirky and fun! I just finished watching the second season last week. Finally, I love Brandon Bird's pop culture art. I bought the Christopher Walken face t-shirt and the Dukes of Hazzard cave drawing giclée about 5 years ago.

So Will Kane's third (THIRD) gift arrived today...

I...I don't even know what to say, man. Thanks doesn't cover it, but it's all I can come up with at the moment.
I know what to say:

Will Kane and Teitr Styrr are FUCKING ASSHOLES.
Oh thank goodness. Very classy gift Will!

Shit man. What a fucking year. I love you all, i just do.
Second part of Ripoll's two-parter arrived today!

Dick Miller! Roger Corman! This looks both fun and nightmare inducing. Well done, Patrick. Looking forward to giving these a spin over the holidays.
Thank God it finally arrived. I ordered that thing a while back, and I was worried it got lost somewhere.

Glad you like it. I wanted something fun to balance The Passion of Joan of Arc, and Bucket of Blood is my favorite Roger Corman movie.
Chewers rule, but especially Will and Teitr!
You are quite welcome JG. Your first Blu-ray film should have arrived with the player, hopefully it comes soon. Hint: It's my favorite war film ever.

Hehe.
Are we the usual gaping orifice that everyone possesses? Or is Ripoll just jealous?
