Heh, found an interesting tidbit via Google News archive: Nic Roeg was supposed to direct, and they shot some extra stuff for the NATO convention reel.
From an AP article published in May 1980:
"The company has assembled a 45-minute sample for theatre owners aimed at intriguing them to book the movie. The clips are introduced by Max Von Sydow, who as Ming, must be the most convincing salesman in film history. 'Think big, send money,' he mutters threateningly."
Why hasn't that reel shown up on YouTube yet, dammit?
