I dunno... I see Brook as Dale for that girl-next-door personality. Aura needs to be played by someone with a sultry personality.

"Queen exploded tragically today as they completed work on the soundtrack to Flash Gordon."

Too much "Fried Chicken!"

Olivia Wilde.

Thanks guys, that was fun. I might just show up again next week.

'One Vision' rep to you, good sir.

Well folks.... that was extremely fun and satisfying. Thanks for having me!
Indeed, splendid work all. I might just drop by for the encore as well.

Yep! Good times. Hail Ming everyone!
That was a blast. Time to put on the soundtrack and do some work.

Yeah, this was a fun read. I may stop by for round two as well.

Heh, found an interesting tidbit via Google News archive: Nic Roeg was supposed to direct, and they shot some extra stuff for the NATO convention reel.

From an AP article published in May 1980:

"The company has assembled a 45-minute sample for theatre owners aimed at intriguing them to book the movie. The clips are introduced by Max Von Sydow, who as Ming, must be the most convincing salesman in film history. 'Think big, send money,' he mutters threateningly."

Why hasn't that reel shown up on YouTube yet, dammit?

Best in show.

Dammit, 8am PST was too early for me. Is the next run still set for the 18th? I could do a Sunday too.

Honest question: Why did you do this on a message board thread instead of the chat room?

That makes no sense to me. But OK. Hopefully I will be around for the next one.
Ah fuck! Totally forgot about this! I'll try to be there next week. Goddamn friday nights.
An idea: Do this in mirc, or a chat-based browser which records chat transcripts. That way, you guys can have your own record of the interactions to show the grandchildren one day, and you don't have to further divert your attention away from the film to constantly refresh the forum thread for updates.

I don't know. This is all too geeky for me. I just want to watch the film.

Is the watchalong being continued in this thread or will be another thread created?
I won't be able to participate this morning, unfortunately: I've been called in to work to support a hypercare release. I'll log in from work and read the banter, though.
I'm so confused, I thought it was meant to start at midnight where I am. It's now 1am.
it was supposed to start 5 minutes ago. I don't know what to say, Nathan...people said that they'd be here but they aren't.
Yeah... Shit, I just got home. Unexpected emergency this morning. Even if it's just Nathan and I, I'd still be willing to do it. But maybe we should reschedule.

(getting on my soapbox)

Several of you said that you'd be here today for the watchalong. Those of you that forgot or don't have a decent excuse owe Nathan an apology. The man is in an inconvenient timezone to participate in something like this but he still SHOWED UP, ON TIME, to watch this with you guys. I'd be more than a little pissed if I were in his shoes.

I for one was unclear whether the time had been locked down. Apologies if I contributed to the confusion.

Sorry Nathan. It slipped my mind, total dick move.
