I've seen action movies that weren't as manly as this pic. Vaya con dios, Mr. Nielsen. You made me laugh my butt off on many occasions over the years.

A worthy motive.

I just turned someone on to CREEPSHOW a couple weeks ago, leading to a lengthy conversation about LN's career. Strange for him to pass so soon after singing his praises.

But let's not forget the great man, shall we?
As someone who missed half a school year thanks to pneumonia, I can say, resoundly, that this is horseshit. It's an awful condition, and there were times where death seemed inevitable; you spend so much time hacking and coughing that literally anything would seem a relief.

Some celebrity passings have to warrant a post. Loved Mr. Nielsen and he brought many many laughs to family and friends.

I still say "and where the hell was I?"

I like to think what made the ZAZ Team so different from the other "Spoof films" we get these days is that they know that the best way to tell a joke is not to make it obvious that they are telling a joke. Also the Zucker Brother's clever witplay on common catchphrases.

"Don't worry Sir! We have men working around the clock to find her."
In the background, cops are working around a clock.

Genius.

Like everyone else, I discovered him through Airplane and Naked Gun and later Police Squad.

Police Squad in particular deserves to be seen by more people, just an insane collection of verbal and visual gags, where else can you see Leslie Nielsen dramatically struggling with a wig, fondly recall living with another man or give one of the greatest clubs performances in the history of entertainment.

Absolutely correct, Greg Clark. My grandfathers last hours/weeks were miserable, struggling to breath while tubes attempted to vaccume his lungs. "Old Man's Friend"? An old wive's tale

Sad as it was this is one of those celeb deaths that is oddly life affirming, in that no one anywhere seems to have anything but nice things to say about him.

It often gets overlooked but I have to throw his recurring role in Due South on the pile of Nielsen greatness. He was (as always) highly entertaining in it, and it showed a nice bit of solidarity with his Canadian roots.

The man was so cool he even found his way into a Boards of Canada track:

It's less of a joke than the Hayden version...
