Suspiria or Brazil: Can't decide

I need help on what movies to chose. I only have a certain amount of money(about 30 dollars). I want to get either Dario Argento's Suspiria 3 disk limited edition or Brazil. Both or around the same price and I never saw either two of them. Neither of them or in any video rental places near me and I really want to see Suspiria. I know what both or about but can't decide. I also know that Brazil may not be classified as horror but it might. I would gladly get both movies but I only have enough damn money for one.

Hmmm. Never saw Brazil, but Suspiria is classic. I own the single disc DVD, but was reluctant to buy the 3 disc set. If you keep your eyes out, sometimes, depending on how many is on stock, Best Buy will reduce the 3 disc set of Suspiria for about $22. Might want to keep your eyes open for that.

Either way you go you cant go wrong. Since Halloween is near go with Suspira.

Both are equally stylish and equally "classic" depending on whome you talk to. I digs them both. either/or... you wont be dissapointed.(I have the 3 disk set of Suspiria, worth the money if you's ask me)

If you wan't a badly dubbed Jessica Harper with an awsome soundtrack go for Suspiria.

If you want a rope swinging appliance repairing Robert Dinero go for Brazil.

I can get Suspiria for 24 dollars off Amazon which seems damn cheap for 3 disks. I'm probaly going to go wih Suspiria since Halloween is coming and get Brazil later.

I have not seen Suspiria, but I have already made my disdain for Brazil very well known around the boards.

While Suspiria is fascinating, I'd suggest getting Brazil. If you don't like the movie, you can at least enjoy the story of the making of it, if you're into that type of info.

sing it with me, "BRAAAAZZZZZIIIIILLLLL!"

one of the best. go with brazil... but i paid much more than 30 bucks for mine. i got screwed.

They're both classics, but you may want to consider that Brazil was released by Criterion and that edition is either already on moratorium or will be soon and therefore will become harder to get (and more exspensive) while I believe Suspiria will be around for a while.

Unless you've heard something I haven't, Brazil is in print and will remain in print.

No...you didn't get screwed. Those discs were WORTH the 50 dollar price tag...so enjoyable, and the Love Conquer's All version is hilarious!! But, really, it's all in a personal opinion...Suspiria is great, yet so is Brazil...so, I guess I am no help! Haha...

I haven't seen Brazil, but Suspiria is brilliant. The 3 DVD set is amazing, i doubt they could put anything more into it.

Well...maybe a Commentary track, but thats just because I love them!

SUSPIRIA is a work of art, one of the all-time greatest ...

BRAZIL is a load 'o pretentious boring crap, just like 12 MONKEYS ...

( go with SUSPIRIA )

Brazil all the way.

There isn't even a rivalry here.

I think you have those two movies confused.

Susperia is pretentious crap, and perhaps the most overrated horror film in history.

Brazil is imaginative, funny, frightening and actually has something to say. Not to mention the Criterion DVD is probably THE best DVD out there.

No confusion here, just my opinion ... And perhaps you might enjoy Argento's masterpiece more if you figure out how to spell it correctly ...

Zing!

Clearly I'd go with Suspiria. It's a modern horror classic. The LE is well worth the money.
Anchor Bay did a tremendous job with DVD the transfer. The picture looks absolutely breathtaking for movie which is 25 years old. Also, the musical score by Goblin is second-to-none.

You really think so?

Yeah, I get it now. Maybe while they're working out how to spell the title they'll be more likely to overlook what a drawn-out, silly, godawful dull movie Suspiria is!
No offence, but if you're looking for a decent plot in an Argento movie then you're missing the point. Most of his films make as much sense as your average nightmare, but style and atmosphere are everything. Give Suspiria another chance.
Based on most horror fans love for Suspiria I unfortinately wasted my money on the 3 disc set. Definately one of the most overrated horror movies ever. It was by no means bad, infact it is 20 times better than most of the scream copy so-called horror movies that have been steadily flowing out over the past few years. Not worth wasting money on though...
Blah blah blah ... Everyone has an opinion, fine, whatever ... What seems ridiculous is the "I haven't seen it, but I'm certain it great/awful" mentality ...
.
.. Argento's film is as beautiful and lush as other visual gems such as BLACK NARCISSUS and KWAIDAN ... The Technicolor brillance and photography are captivating .. Add to that a fairy tale horror story and genine feeling of dread, not to mention a killer soundtrack, and SUSPIRIA is a classic ...

I have read that Argento had the actors in SUSPIRIA recite their lines in a deliberate and timed rhythm: one that mimicked the beat of a human heart ... He directed SUSPIRIA with an obvious emphisis on how it effects certain senses, from the visuals to the sounds and music, so perhaps those who don't care for the film just are looking for something different ...
Argento is very much love-him-or-hate-him.

I really need to watch Suspiria again. I've only watched it once, upon a second viewing I might not be as diasappointed as I originally was.
