Well, someone had to do it eventually. Seeing that any other Pynchon book is unfilmable, and the high profile he has as a writer, it's the safest pick and PTA may just be the man to do it. It's definitely Pynchon's slightest work, his 'Ladykillers' or 'Cruelty', if you will- just a genius artist blowing off some steam and having some fun. And while it's middling Pynchon, it still got enough great stuff in there to turn into a great movie.
I'm still waiting for the nut to attempt a miniseries steampunk adaptation of Against The Day, though. Hey, man can dream, can't I.

Yeah, this news has me pretty damn excited.

I recently finished reading this book, and really liked it quite a bit. It was like The Big Lebowski meets The Long Good-Bye. I was also looking forward to The Master, but I'll settle for this. My only beef is that Downey (whom I love) is a bit too old to play the lead character, who was in his late 20s, if I remember correctly. I know we all hate fancasting around here, but I pictured James Franco while I was reading the book.

Anyway, looking forward to this.

This actually makes up for The Master being indefinitely delayed, but its also actually one of the only things I can imagine making up for that.
