Is anyone interested in seeing Space Battleship Yamato?

I'm in Japan, and it's in the grips of Yamato fever - it's being released tomorrow. After being bombarded with advertising and merch. in every convenience store, I've almost succumbed to seeing it. Was a big fan of Star Blazers as a kid, and it's kind of appealing to see the ol' Yamato fire up it's wave motion gun in reasonably uncrappy cg.

Being here for so long, I'm kind of out of touch. Is there much of an interest outside of Japan?

I'm kinda, sorta, interested, simply for nostalgia's sake. I'm not losing any sleep over it, either way.

I'd certainly watch it. I loved 'Star Blazers' so, like you, the nostalgia factor would compel me to see it.

This is really all about Duke Fleed, though. He lives for this stuff.

Judas Booth, You're right about me! Space Battleship Yamato, would be in contention for my...#1 film, if it were released theatrically in the US.

Tundro, WOW! There is no question, if I lived in Japan, That I would be seeing the new...Yamato day 1. I might even go to my first...Midnight Show! I not only grew up watching...Starblazers, The, First film I watched with sub-titles, was...Space Battleship Yamato. I have the first...5 Yamato Anime Films on dvd, and I wish I could see that on the silver screen as well. Even If I have to watch the 2 current Yamato films on dvd, that is fine. One of my first purchases at, Image Anime was a die cast...Battleship Yamato. I have 10 soundtracks to Yamato, and I hope there is news that both the new live action and anime Yamato films will be coming to the US.

I actually have a ton of nostalgia for the series and am totally looking forward to seeing it over here, just that means - more than likely - on home video.

I love how, close to the classic anime series the live acton...Space Battleship Yamato is. I hope the score from the series is used, as extensively as it appears in the various trailers too.

Buffalo Wildfire, That is very cool.  Was it good? I really want to see...Both Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection (5th anime sequel) and the live action Yamato you just saw.

It was ok ..there were some great scenes in it and the sfx were good for the budget

I really have to track this down. My deep nostalgic love for Starblazers makes this something I may just get a buzz out of.
