Carpenter and O'Bannon freak out in space.

You're right, the beach ball scene is the highlight of the film and I think that it was part of the 38 extra minutes filmed to get the film to feature length (fuzzy on that though).

Such a fun flick, and "Benson, Arizona" might be one of my favorite uses of music in a movie ever.

Yep.

And this reminds me, I need to pick up that new disc. RIP, Dan O'B.

"Let there be light."

I love this movie. Does anyone know if the "original cut" on the new disc is the same one that's been released before? Because that version is kind of useless-- it's just the theatrical cut with stuff taken out and nothing restored, rendering the story even more nonsensical than it already is.

I bought this movie sight unseen a few years back, solely because it was Carpenter, and I was not disappointed (the $5.00 price tag helped a bit). It's just so much fun, and I love the shambling, sort of stream of consciousness nature of the whole thing. The film really feels like a dry run for something like Red Dwarf to me, especially the stuff with the bomb at the end.

Eh, I'm rambling. I just love this movie, and am glad to see it highlighted on the site, as more people need to watch it.
