When I tried to convince my father that THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE was intended to be a comedy, I used the George Axelrod/LORD LOVE A DUCK connection as one of my arguments.

Didn't work, but what the hell. Good flick.

The kashmir sweater trying on montage still haunts my nightmares. Well, half nightmares (the incessant close ups of the lustful, near-snarling laugh on Roddy McDowell's face), and half nice dreams (Tuesday Weld bouncing around).

It's incest cinema at its best. The film makes for a nice double feature with "The House of Yes".
