I've chuckled each time I've read that at the beginning of these interviews.

Reading some of the reviews, and now these interviews, I can't help but wonder if a Tron sequel would have benefited far more from having the people making it not be fans of the original film, since, aside from the conceptual design work, I can't see how the poor quality of its narrative, characterization and pacing warranted admirers in the first place. That it seems they've tried to replicate those pacing and narrative problems(possibly somehow mistaking them as one of the strengths of the original) is a head-scratcher. 'Course, I haven't seen this. It's silly of me to even begin to make judgments on if, or how, this went wrong.
