The Sing Off

I watched last year and it was a total blast. It's Glee sectionals every week, without the corny relationship drama. Speaking of which, one of the team's from last season, the Tufts Beelzebubs, are the voices for the Glee club's rivals, The Warblers. Last's year's winners, Nota, were also a blast to watch.

This year, I'm digging the Oregon team, On the Rocks. They made internet fame with their cover of "Bad Romance" which they performed on the show.

Other notables are The BackBeats and Jerry Lawson & Talk of The Town. Anyone else watching?

It figures that the team with the best name and the cutest gals, PITCH SLAPPED, got booted first. Alas.

Rooting for the Tennessee boys merely because they were one of the only teams to perform a song I actually liked (Everybody Wants To Rule The World).

I liked them too, but was turned off when they previewed that annoying as hell song "Soul Sister". I hope they make it far though. I want to not practice with them.

It's like it was specifically designed to go straight to the top of the URGE TO KILL: RISING charts.

Hate!

If Chuck is going on a brief hiatus for December, I don't mind this being it's replacement. I'm a sucker for a cappella music and enjoyed the first season quite a bit.

In the Boston area, we have a local college radio station, WERS, that plays a four hour block of a cappella music on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I've actually heard a couple of the groups featured on The Sing Off because of All A Cappella. If anyone is interested, you can stream the show from the station's website.

Just what the world needs...a Glee reality series. UGH

Obviously male singers > everyone else according to this show. Not that it bothers me. I prefer it.

Oregon Guys, Tennessee Guys, and the LA group for me.

Tennessee group just took a song I loathe and flipped the switch. I loved it! I want them to go all the way!

Street Corner Symphony just jumped leaps and bounds ahead of the other bands. I will be sad if they don't win. Come On Eileen Creep

There are still 5 groups left. Two more will be eliminated tomorrow, and then Monday is the Final 3. Voters decide the winner to be announced next Wednesday.

Last night was the first time I saw the show. This slayed me dead. Dead, I say...

Backbeats...Landslide

Jerry Lawson & company singing "House of the Rising Sun". This alone would have made my time investment worthwhile.

Thanks for reminding me to watch the past ep. It was sitting on my DVR and I hadn't gotten around to catching up.

I still think Street Corner Symphony is the most consistent and entertaining group. While "Landslide" brought chills up my arms, the BackBeats are hit and miss with me. I really did not like their GaGa medley. Committed has definitely grown the most. If you told me they'd be singing "Love in the Club" back on Day 1, I would have called you crazy. Their harmonies are sick, though. It infects your soul. Jerry Lawson and the Talk of the Town are just amazing at what they do. They don't have the range that the other groups do in terms of tackling different genres of music, but they are so good at what they do, I'm not sure it matters.

This year's final four out sing last year's finalists by a landslide. :P All these groups are truly gifted.

Awww, my boys were so close. Can't be disappointed though. Committed are great, too!

I swear that one guy on Street Corner is like four foot eight.
