Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream

It's a kinda new band from Australia that has nothing to do with a young Bale. Luke Steele formed it after leaving The Sleepy Jackson and now they're becoming quite big all over Europe. Their most recent album came in 2008 and won almost all possible awards at the Australian Awards ARIA.

Style? A bit of early Bowie meets Prince meets Royksopp, I think.

This is a medley of three songs, you may know them from this single. Any opinions? Is the weird Glam Vader costume thing still acceptable in 2010? Was it ever?

I kinda wanna be a douche and say "new band" and "album came in 2008" no longer compute in the bored of a buzzband a couple weeks later blogworld of today. Oops I just did.

These guys strike me as transcendentally douchetastic and their music videos have provided some hearty lololols in parties, when the actual partying has devolved into "check this thing in youtube" phase. Couple songs are catchy though. For a while there, I used to have "Standing on the Shore" earworming through my brain. I probably would still recommend checking that song out with the most serious caveat of "avoid the video at all cost or you'll never be able to properly evaluate the song". (If you don't like the song though, by all means check the video out, its a brand new world of bananasfuckinsane ridiculous).
