Nerd Stench alert: the pic used for the story isn't Robin Hood. It's one of the Hildebrandt Bros. paintings for Lord of the Rings - specifically, when Faramir and his buds capture Sam and Frodo.

Yes, I realize how pathetic this is. Back on topic....

Dollars to donuts, the name of Cobalt Neutral 19 will change to something idiotic Cinemax-ready moniker like, "Immeasurable Risk" or "Desert Intrigue".

It will be interesting to see what kind of strength the Wachowski siblings are able to throw around nowadays, post-Speed Racer... post Ninja Assassin... post barely-keeping-their-names-off-Invasion

The only thing that would interest me in a crime saga from them is if Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly show up.

One of us.... one of us... one of us...

hy oh why if Wachowskis want to do a
modern day action oriented tale of a Archery
vigilante don 't they just do an adaption of
Green Arrow for Warner Bros?
But I still have a lot of respect for the siblings
(Ninja Assassin was a huge disappointment
though!) so will watch on the big screen. Idris
Elba would be preferable over Smith though.

Not pathetic! What's pathetic is that it came up when I typed in Robin Hood, and the file name is "argon" (obviously "Aragorn") which should have tipped me off.

I'll try to fix it, though our back end is just throwing a bunch of tantrums today. It may replace it with Tom Hardy just to annoy me more, lol.

Wasn't V For Vendetta already their modern take on a Robin Hood story?

I really was just being a ridiculous nerd in pointing it out. Appreciate the good grace you've shown!

I see how it could be stretched to be seen as a take on Robin Hood, but V (the character) seemed to have more existential aims in mind, as well as wanting bloody, fatal revenge for himself.

Still wishing Showtime or HBO would take Parke Godwin's really amazing Sherwood and make it into a miniseries. It manages to bring a lot of realism to the story without diluting any of the epic nature.

If Hood was a feature-length Omar Little story, my rear would already be in the seat.

"Omar be comin', yo! He got that boom!"

I assumed from the article's title the idea was a sci-fi take set in the future. As in our future. But turns out the setting is the present. Which I usually don't refer to as the future, unless of course I've gone back in time and I'm writing articles from medieval England.

I'd actually like a sci-fi, far-future take on Robin Hood. Present day we don't need. Batman is close enough.

HOOD

Robbin from da haters
Givin to da playas yo

Seriously though reading the articles title I also thought we'd be getting a futuristic Robin Hood story not...this.
Bleh, The Wachowskis are way better than this.

Urban takes on any popular folklore or legend generally don't interest me unless exceptional people are involved. Pass for the moment.

Running Scared wept.

Ya know... I think I've come around to being fine with this as long as there's some point in which Ice-T pulls a bat out of his afro.

Robin Hood in the future would be way better than Robin Hood in the Hood.

And memories of Frank Sinatra's Robin Hood in 1920's Chicago film "Robin And The Seven Hoods" floods my mind.
Give me a Meh for this one. It does a little too much like "V for Vendetta" warmed over.

I apologize for the title. As I was writing it up, I thought it WAS A futuristic take on Robin Hood, and then I realized it wasn't. But forgot to change the title. It was stupid of me!

I agree that this is their payout film to get their Iraq love story film made. They need to pay their dues.

As for the topic make it The International meets V for Vendetta with Will Smith and we have a deal.
Sign me up! Will Smith is involved, right!? He'll have a field day w/ the rap video. Should make him more street cred worthy because its ''HOOD.''

Justin, I might have to check out Running Scared now. I did say "generally", after all.
