I like The Proposition and Ghosts... of the Civil Dead was intense to say the least. I still have yet to see The Road and the most recent John Hillcoat work I've seen are the Grinderman 2 videos. He's a good director and his work with Nick Cave is very engaging and thought provoking.
I can imagine this being a Tom Hardy performance that is on the level with or maybe even more brutal than Bronson. Hillcoat certainly put Ray Winstone through the cleaners in The Proposition so we'll see. As for Shia LaBeouf, I don't see how he could get away from this project without playing a character who gets severely physically hurt or killed. At best his character would survive with mental scarring or a significant defamation of character. Still should be fun regardless.

Very excited for this one. I remember when Millennium passed on it. Not their thing.

Fantastic. While I liked the look of THE PROPOSITION, I have to admit I was a bit cool on the film itself. Just didn't do it for me, for whatever reason. THE ROAD, though? One of the most powerful and affecting films I've seen in years, and it guaranteed that whatever Hillcoat went with as his next project would be a film I'd hotly anticipate
While I'm sad that the Christian Bale Bear Attack film was ripped from Hillcoat's grimy mitts, this at least sounds like a worthy follow up and Hardy's name has me pretty excited to see how it turns out. Shia.. is Shia. I have not yet seen WS2, so I don't feel qualified to pass judgment on his skills as an actor. I'm willing to give him a shot at least. Hardy? Hardy has now impressed me across numerous films, and seeing as how I just saw INCEPTION for the first time last night, I'd have to say that I am now an even bigger fan of his than I already was
Hope this movie works out with the financing and everything, because I am certain this has the possibility to be a great film
