Not sure how many people care, but the "teaser" is on apple.com right now...yeah.
They showed a 30 minute sizzle reel to journalists. Everyone seemed to love it.
Web journalists - minus some obvious exceptions - have a troubling tendency to love everything they see chunks of in advance.

Yep.

I liked the silliness of trying to tie it into Apollo 11.

Also, Unicron. Does this mean that they'll make him the moon? Because that would be all sorts of stupid-awesome.
I want this to be a big dumb trainwreck like the 2nd movie! Just make it drag less.
Wait Unicron.....

Please god no Ultra Magnus.

Please YES Ultra Magnus! Only if they make him as terrible a leader as he was in the animated movie. The inept alternate leader with a severe case of tunnel vision!
I'm just happy to see Bay going back to space. That's clearly his strong point.
You and I must have watched a very different cut of Armageddon...
I infamously love Armageddon.

Voiced by Steve Carrell.

There is no reason for these films to be as long as they are. None.

Loved the first, what I saw of the second made me want to claw my eyes out. But Unicron? Oh, I am interested now.
wd40, I didn't love the teaser, as there was very little footage, of the film. I hope that, Tranformers 3, without...Foxy Megan, will be as great as...Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen!
Why do these robots have to look so ugly in these damned movies. Everytime they put a nose to them they make them really big and ridiculous looking.

Anyways, he looks a lot like a crappy (and drunken, look at his eyes) version of Alpha-Trion;

Funny fact. Both the first movie and Revenge of the Fallen are about the same length. Only about 6 minutes difference between them.

And no, neither of them should've been anywhere near that long.

Why haven't they cast Steve Buscemi as "Resident Genius" yet?

Racism makes movies longer. Fact.

I didn't really mind the lengths per se, but there was so much unnecessary stuff in the second that should have been replaced with other stuff, not necessarily just cutting for time.
The first one felt pretty long too. But yeah. The pacing in the sequel was incompetent. It was useless stuff played at full tilt for the entire runtime. Basically, it wasn't paced at all.

And yet, I fully enjoyed the 2nd movie a lot more than I did the first one.

JUST BECAUSE IT HAD A MINUTE OR TWO OF BETTER ACTION.

Boy, I really hope they bring back Anthony Anderson, the random blonde hacker, and her faceless hacker buddies to fill out the "mythos"...
Realistically, they could have handled that whole subplot with one person. Let's keep the hot Australian blonde, sorry Anthony Anderson (I still like you).
Don't forget Jon Voight and Anthony Anderson's back-door shattering buddy.
The whole hacker subplot led to the discovery of the signal (which didn't really matter all that much) and the use of old computers for communications after they got jammed by the Decepticons. They could have just used one character to do both, and had Voight handle Frenzy with Michael O'Neill.

mcnooj used to be one of my favorites.

Yes. For a film so full of delightful excesses, it's almost ironic that TF2's failure lies in its its excessive length. I still love the movie to death (i.e. robot heaven).

Obviously I'd rather see Transformers 2: Part 2 than Transformers 3, but I'll take what I can get. The trailer feels remarkably retrained, almost Spielbergian in parts, and slow paced as if to say "I'm legit sorry about the last one."

Doesn't matter. This and Tree of Life: Day 1. Thank you Bay and Malick for continuing to challenge and elevate the art form.
I'm sorry, Patrick. The heart wants what it wants.
Don't worry mcnooj, I still like you. Even if you got my username wrong so many times.
Thanks, neoolong. But you're just not Ripooll enough for me.

What really made TF2 an enjoyable experience for me was that I saw it at a packed IMAX showing on opening night with several friends. We were those assholes in movie theaters that laughed at all the 'wrong' moments (the serious stuff) and sat in silent horror as the rest of the audience laughed at the 'right' stuff (the Jar Jar Twinbots). For this movie, it seemed the right thing to do.

I would've wanted to punch me that night.
The concept here is really cool. I hope they can combine the best bits of the first movie with this revisionist history angle well enough.

You said the same thing about THE EXPENDABLES sizzle reel - IIRC. EX sucked ass!

___

T1 was hella fun (fuck the haters). T2 seriously gave me a headache. Hopefully, T3 delivers the goods and then the world gets...

The only way that works is if he gets inflicted with space madness at some point.
... and proceeds to pull off the Major Kong he so desperately wanted to get off on... and inadvertently kill a bunch of Autobots in the process.
looks alright. i'll wait and see though.

i really really hate the title though.
Yeah, that title is just bad. You can't call it 'Dark Side of the Moon' because Pink Floyd has a monopoly on that phrase, and 'Dark of the Moon' just sounds like somebody forgot a word.
I admit every time I see this thread I get slightly confused. It doesn't roll off the tongue correctly unless it's Dark Side of The Moon.
Just a reminder,

If you're tired of these movies please don't support them with your money (that goes for any crap blockbuster). I know we all like a good trainwreck, but be smart.
I really, really hope the actual moon is a giant robot and it comes down to Earth to stomp on cities.

Mmmmmmaybe.
As long as the giant moon-sized robot has an easily accessible self destruct button for Shia Le Beouf to press at the end of the movie and save the day. This magic button should be clunkily mentioned in the first act then forgotten about for half the movie.
Hahaha Dark of the Moon?! Sounds like Myers is finally getting some work.

It seems in NASA lingo, they say "the dark" instead of "the dark side", which is where the title comes from. So, it's BASICALLY correct...

That doesn't make it a better title.
Well, so far none of the marketing has involved Rosie bent over in daisy dukes, so I guess Bay has grown a little.

I suspect he's saving that for the Super Bowl spot though.
Barkatthemoon, Don't forget, Rosie is a, Victoria Secret model. There could be a scene where, Decepticons, attempt something really fiendish, like interrupting the...Victoria Secret Holiday Fashion Show, with all the models in their undewear. That could be an incredible, 3D scene.

Yet, on purpose to be hip, or something. It sounds intentionally awkward as opposed to something like "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl"; which was accidentally retarded.
They're actually gonna go with the Moonicron idea, I bet.
So is that dude they find on the moon supposed to be Unicron?
No, the moon is going to be Unicron. OMG THE MOON WILL KILL US ALL
post #47 of 121
I actually thought this was a pretty effective teaser.
It feels like Spielberg is retaking a bigger role in this, which is nice considering the drop in quality from the first to the second.

Me to, and lets face it Unicron is the only way they can up the ante from last time.
