The whole movie was just stupid.

TF2 is even worse. But to me comparing the two is like comparing the IQs of two morons. Does it really matter if one is higher? They're both morons. The Transformer movies are bad movies. That one is marginally better is a nonstarter in my mind.

Fair enough. I can understand not liking them, and if you don't, your comparison makes sense. There's a charm - yes, charm - to the first one that just somehow, inexplicably works for me. I don't pretend it's a good film. But it's an enjoyable one, for me. Second one was like taking a shit shower. I'm just hoping the third is more like the first, but sounds like it ain't gonna be your cuppa no matter what.

I love this thread. Everyone seems to be trying to one up each other's "TF2 was..."

I think MichaelM's "Shit Shower" analogy is my favourite...

Do we have any more?

First positive review I've ever read that made me want to see a film even less.  Street-smart robots?  Sweet Jesus.

I just want a giant robot movie that is actually about giant robots, instead of idiot teenagers and idiot soldiers. I'm not sure why that's so hard to grasp.

Cause you need a human element? Once you mix in Bay the military angle is a given.

I think this is based on the theory that Hollywood executives are trying to make "good" movies, when, in fact, if they could get away with packaging and repackaging "Dude Where's My Car" every week and making a profit, they would. Smaller movies (which aren't necessarily better) are made to diversify a portfolio and seek alternate revenue streams, but the bean-counters at Paramount aren't saying, "Oh, Transformers made a billion dollars - NOW we get to make the movies we WANT to make!"

I don't know if this was every announced in any way, but Michael Bay's Vimeo account has an alternate version of the latest teaser that was meant for 3D presentations.  Always impressed with Bay's aptitude for slick destruction.  After Bay and Cameron's back and forth about 3D, I'm interested to see if shooting in 3D changes Bay's filmmaking sensibilities in any noticeable way.

mcnooj82, It is too bad that Bay, didn't get a Damsel In Distress, with a size...DD chest, to go with his...3D Destruction!

Yeah, I saw the 3D trailer in front of On Stranger Tides on Saturday, and I noticed some of the different shots in the trailer too.  It's mostly the same trailer, but there are some noticeable differences.  As easy as it is to be down on 3D it worked pretty well and did a good job of selling me on the idea of possibly trying to catch it in 3D.  It seems as though the flick is a hard sell for some folks no matter what the format, but I've been going to the theater more often in the past few months than I have in the past few years so I'm gonna try to keep myself pretty busy with some of the summer movies this year.

I Guess, June 29th could be thought of as...Witwicky Wednesday!  I cannot wait to see this final marriage of...Bayhem and Transformers in...Spectacular 3D!

God !! i cant wait to see this flick!  that to in 3D . christ its gona be fun!!

Well I wasn't expecting anybody to muster that kind of enthusiasm for this shit.

Transformers 2 is in a weird place in my mind.  I don't think I've ever hated a movie as thoroughly as I did that... thing, yet I really can't get it out of my mind.  Guess you could call it a hate-boner for Bay.

Edit: I guess it's partly my fault; I'd never seen a sequel by the guy before and my mind wasn't prepared for such a reaming.  I do wonder, though, if this new one will continue the trend toward excessive Bay-ness that ROTF started.  If so DOTM will just be three hours of metal, tits, and bad jokes in a giant blender set to puree.

Zweit, To each ones own.  Alot of people...Loved, Black Swan, and praise Darren Aronofsky!  I do not care about either the film or the director.  Why do I mention this?  For one you are bashing a...Good Film Franchise, in it's own thread.  I will admit to being guilty of this as well.  I have bashed...Scott's PILGRIMage, numerous times.  Finally, I...Love the...Transformers Films!  TRANSFORMERS 3: Dark Of The Moon 3D, should be an...Epic, worthy of song, in the final mash up of...Rock Em Sock Em Robots and BAYHEM!  There will not be that much T and A, since, the very pretty Rosie Huntington Whitely, does seem to be more...Deflated, than Bay's usual Beauties!  I am also amused that there were Transformers buried in the dark side of the moon, as I recently re-read Marvel's...Shogun Warriors Comics, and the final attack of Earth did begin on the...Dark Of The Moon!  I recommend that you see this final Transformers film in...Glorious 3D!

The Island was six years ago, I feel like Bay is due for another flop.

Well this sure as hell won't be it...

I don't care anymore. I know I'm gonna go see it, and I know I'm gonna go googly eye'd at it. I know its going to be the shiniest turd to erupt from the bowels of Bay (with some Spielbergien turd solidifier added for a clean break, requiring a minimal amount of tp), and I don't care anymore. So come on Bay, give it to me, right in the eye like you know you want to.

While I've maintained from the start that Michael Bay is some kind of cinematic antichrist intent on destroying all that is good and great about cinema, life and the universe in general and these films are his magnum opus of shit and despair, a friend of mine who disliked the first and outright despised the second got into a preview tonight and...

*bites tongue*

..said this one was actually really quite good. Genuinely so. But he did just have a near death experience a couple of weeks back so I'm willing to chalk this one down to post-traumatic spazzed up brain chemistry or something and remain highly sceptical as ever.

I'm gonna be seeing this tonight, hopefully (if the free-screening vultures don't end up swamping me out of it).

As long as the movie gives me something like the Optimus fight in the woods (basically the only reason I prefer the 2nd movie to the first), I'll be happy.  Those are my standards with these movies.  If it happens to be worse than the 2nd, even better!  There was something amazing about how bad that movie was.

...nooj, you're an awesome guy, but I genuinely fear for your attempt to see this. I decided long ago that this wasn't getting my money, but I hope you still have fun.
