Well, to be perfectly honest, I'm not that impressed by this, and I'm not convinced that the film will do any justice to the material. The last time Michael Bay tried for any serious historical credibility to serve as the center of a more wide-ranging storyline, we had the POS Pearl Harbor, which I think is his worst film in his filmography for its crushing failure against its serious artistic pretentions. I'm getting the same sense of blind, confused flag-waving from this teaser, with the same trying-too-hard photography to boot.

You've mistaken Neil Armstrong for Lance Armstrong. Forgotten hero, for the lose.

All those wasted effects, and yet the trailer isn't exciting at all. Good to see Bay is trying something new.

Renn, don't let anyone tell you otherwise: Transformers 2 should be avoided at all costs. The only way I'd even consider watching it again is via a CHUD Watchalong or a Bad Movie Night with friends. Both preferrably heavily influenced by adult beverages.

It's Batman & Robin bad.

Not moved one way or the other after watching that.

After the second one, anyone who goes to see this deserves everything that's comin' to them.

Sometimes, I want to be abused...

Remember, Devin's no longer here, so no one needs pretend anymore that Transformers 1 was any good either.

The first one was an enjoyable one-off (as in, it was an amusing effects demo the first time I saw it). Repeat viewings were disastrous to its memory for me, though.

Full disclosure: I never saw the second one, but I did see Melton's face a few hours after he did. They should've assigned PTSD psychiatrists to each screening to help people begin the long path to recovery.

It's amazing the bizarre things I will go out of my way to fuck up.

Honestly I got a Alien vibe from the trailer when they hit up they discover the spacecraft. That's a good thing.

Now my astronomy might be off, but if this ship is on the dark side of the moon, wouldn't it be on the other side due to rotation of the moon around the Earth?

Yeah the 1st film is enjoyable, brain dead entertainment. The 2nd, is a bloated farty uncle without a brain. Hopefully they can just have fun with the 3rd film like the 1st. Put some IMAX sequences in, I'll check it out after a review or 2. Spielberg needs to be a stronger producer on this one. Someone sneak a fenisteride into Bay's coffee.

I've never particularly been fond of "brain dead entertainment", and I think Devin's quote about its place in cinema is particularly spot-on. I think it degrades the action genre and implies that, hey, who cares if action movies are sloppy and brain-dead so long as there's the impression of enjoying it after the tenth explosion?

The only way you can get an actual "Alien vibe" from this trailer is if you reduce what that "vibe" is made of down to "people exploring an old spacecraft" and nothing else.

Again, if you fall for it this time, it's your own damn faults.

While this...Teaser, doesn't reveal too much, that is fine. I...Loved, Transformers. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen is a...Great film, that should be seen by everyone. I cannot wait to see...Transformers 3: Dark Of The Moon in 3D!

I'm just glad Bay brought on another cast member from the classic television show 'Even Stevens' to accompany Shia. This franchise just keeps getting better!

I don't think we're pretending. I can't tell you if it was "good," but I can tell you it was a blast to watch and I'd watch it again without much hesitation.

Throughout the first Transformers, which I don't view as considerably better than Revenge, I could never shake the feeling that I was watching a tech demo that was only interesting for about twenty seconds.

This trailer does nothing for me. This would have been a great intro for the first movie but we are on the third. Are they really going to spend the first act teasing us with ..oh you're gonna see big giant robot people pretty soon....

It is so weird that it seems at this point the most interesting part of Transformers to Bay is seeing Transformers through the ages.

I don't mean this to sound sarcastic, but, if someone here needs told that an "Alien vibe" is "a good thing", they're probably posting on the wrong Boards.

For the record, though, I'm with Greg. The sub-title's even worse than Revenge of the Fallen, by the way.

So can I. Some of it is good, but it's way too long and over-interested in too many boring, unimportant human characters. The second was just terrible, though.

Is anyone else able to even follow the "history" of the movie-verse version anymore? In the first one we learn that Megatron crashed here looking for the cube, hundreds of years ago. In the second one we learn that they've actually been here for THOUSANDS of years, and actually helped shape our ancient past. And now we've seemingly got more revisionist history coming up with the 3rd one! Now granted, i know that the 2nd one was a strike picture and it was obvious from just how much of a mess the script was. But trying to find a through line in these films is maddening. It just seems like each one is almost a reboot.

I can't wait until the fourth one where we find out that Earth is really Primus.

Honestly guys, brain dead entertainment can exist, you just don't let it bother you. If you get worked up over stupid stuff, you will never live life. Film is the same way. Just because something stupid exists, it doesn't invalidate the genre. The good things defined by you still exist.

I think film is a medium of change, so I go with the flow and embrace it.

Oh and I've been on these boards for a long time.

I completely agree...
