Help with finding special eyewear

I realize this is a bit unorthodox, but so many folks here are in the know across a wide spectrum I thought I'd give it a shot. Bear with, I'll try to be as thorough as possible.

Currently I'm about half way through a short term (their description!) therapy for my liver. The meds have some rather unfortunate side effects ranging from the just annoying to the downright debilitating.

The one I'm really looking for some info/advice on is for my eyes. This shit makes my eyes much more sensitive than they normal. During the day it's generally not bad, when the lighting indoors and out tends to be flat and even (little contrast). As evening sets in, the issue becomes brighter sources against darker (a lamp off to the side or in my periph, tv in darker lit room). Something about the starker contrast.

I'm both cursed and lucky to have the this issue in 2010. Television programming and most web elements are all about quick flash, bright, overexposure and ocular overstimulation. Yet, at the same time, I have unprecedented control over the brightness, picture quality and all other fine tuning qualities on the abundant visual electronics. Problem is, I'm doing just that and driving my wife crazy, not to mention I spend more time fine tuning and adjusting than not.

Crux: I'm on the hunt for glasses/sunglasses that are low tint...shade #1?(the optician at the store mentioned trying to find this, but I've never heard of it)...something to for folks who need indoor sunglasses or something like that. I'm at a loss as to where the hell to start, but I have to do something. Going to the movies has been out of the question for some time. I'm done with this therapy in early May but BATTLE OF LA infortunately comes out in March, and there's no way my eyes can handle that.

What do people do who have super sensitive eyes like that? Jesus, any and all help would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks.

I have nothing to suggest but that your avatar is awesome with this post. What about those little disposable shades the optometrists give you for dialation? There's a ton of sunglasses of various shade out there.

I tried looking up what sunglasses Jim McMahon(85 Bears QB) wears because he has to wear them for light sensativity. No luck. Got nothing else.

Ha ha. It never even dawned on me!

Disposable shades, hmm? Sounds like something to look into, thing is I don't have glasses to begin with. While it seems like you can buy sunglasses almost anywhere the greatest majority seem to be fancy and dark. Most place's selections are so minimal nowadays is insane. There's a sunglass Hut or two around here but they're so fashion oriented and upscale, I didn't really see anything modest and light enough.

Appreciate the efforts, sounds like a good type of lead (someone who already has some!).

Don't really know anything about this, but is this what's going on:

If so, the site recommends polarized lenses.

This has actually been quite useful. The site that comes from helped me narrow to the right terms and elements of what the problem is and what I was looking for. Already found a place that specializes in eyewear of this type. They're, obvious, online/mail so it could be a tiny hassle as I narrow the specs to the right thing, but they seem willing to allow for that.

I'm sincerely grateful for the tip.
