This really wasn't on my radar, I completely forgot that it was releasing today. Perhaps it's on your radar though.

48% with 79 reviews so far.

The first 2 Narnia films were a poor man's LOTR. This looks like a poor man's POTC.

Drew on HitFix gave it a really solid review, FWIW. I generally line up with his tastes, so that means something to me.

Not that interested in this, and its negative reviews are only one factor. Despite whatever faults the book may have as a story, it sounds as if they actually made it worse throughout the process of adaptation by adding in some generic green mist as a common adversary to retread very basic character issues, along with a fabricated storyline about seven swords for some sort of narrative momentum (which, funnily enough, reminds me of the seven Horcruxes from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), an evil, "dark" island, etc.

Guess that pounds the last nail into this franchise. Qui-Gon Jesus Lion and his Pre-Teen Extremist Commandos will now be banished to cable rerun hell forever. HUZZAH!

I thought choosing Apted was a brave choice. A very solid filmmaker outside of his Bond outing. As for the franchise and its offensive properties I don't get it and frankly they can't make some of these books cinematic.

I saw it. Better than CASPIAN but hardly worth watching. There are some nice visuals but the storytelling is rushed and often confusing. The sea serpent battle is kind of fun, though.

My favourite dialogue came at the film`s end. It went something like this:

Lucy: Aslan, will you watch over us back home?
Aslan: Always, Lucy. But I go by a different name there. I hope your time in Narnia has made you appreciate him more!

Just saw this.  I actually enjoy the first two just fine.  They aren't amazing, but they realize the world pretty well and I don't mind watching them.  I actually thought Caspian was better than the first.  However, this one? No.  It had some good sequences here and there, but in the end, I was disappointed even with my expectations lowered.  There were some horribly filmed and choreographed scenes - particularly the first scene that they storm the castle.  Holy hell, it went from passable to utterly embarassing Syfy channel quality.  I was actually embarassed.  The CG was decent to awful (green smoke).  In the end, it felt like the movie was directed, written and edited by two teams of people.  It seemed like half the movie was Apted and the other half was a third unit boom mic operator.  Too bad.  As a casual viewer and moderate fan of the series, I was quite let down.

This was a terribly depressing movie because it played down to the expectations of people who hate this franchise for trumped-up religious reasons.

Ripped up and tore apart the best book in the series. Given how good the second movie was (based on the worst book in the series) that's saying something.

You can see Fox ripped this up and dumped it on the market as a quick money holiday movie.

They shouldn't have changed directors, they shouldn't have gone with right-wing (and uninterested-in-source material) Fox.

Not even worth commenting on at the time of release. What saddens me more are all the haters cheering what Fox did to the franchise, though.
