It's pretty good, the main quest ain't all that, but it does have some good stuff.

There are a ton of side quests, the map is about the size of the Reach in the main game. Dunmer galore. New armors, unmarked quests.

Werebears (can't become one), Rieklings are awesome and sound like gutteral Ewoks.

At least one new companion is awesome, and there are quite a few neat surprises that I just can't ruin.

End fight is alright, Villian gets overshadowed.

All in all a meaty expansion and it's very enjoyable. Plus that wonderful Morrowind music kicks in every now and then.

One thing I wish you could do, like in GTA:San Andreas, is make fat characters. I desperately want to be an obese Imperial or a badass Breton wizard with a bad case of stubble and balding.(Luckily, 5 O'Clock shadow is an option).

I'm sure there's a mod for it on the PC, but I'm on the PS3.

Wait a minute...do you mean that they've gone and added in some more of the "classic" Morrowind tracks from that game (apart from "Silt Sunrise")? Fuck me, that's awesome, if true.

Very coincidentally, I was planning to upload a custom soundtrack to the game when I finally get around to playing Dragonborn, mixing in Jeremy Soule's Morrowind music with his Skyrim stuff.

There used to be a town called Riverwood. Then my fresh Vampire Lord ate everyone in it.

I gave in and created a hot butchy High Elf.

Vampire raid on a town while a dragon attacks?  All right, game.

Oh god that literally sounds like the worst case scenario for the game.

Oh just think of the corpse count, it'll be worse than running through a village as a werewolf.

That and the game might shit itself and feeze up.

The shocker?  I survived!

Went into Vampire Lord form and walked out over the lake so the lunatics couldn't get me.  Townspeople and vampires fought.  I had a follower, a dog, Shadowmere, and my follower's conjuration dealing damage and handling clean-up with the masses while I lobbed attacks at the dragon.

There now rests an Ancient Dragon at the middle of Dawnstar's lake.

Dawnstar is like the fucking Detroit of Skyrim.

I don't know if I've ever once visited the city without a fucking dragon, Thalmor hit squad, or hired thugs* trying to murder me there. That town is a cesspit.

*In fairness the hired thugs probably have some reason for wanting to hurt me. And I probably deserve it.

I rather enjoy walking into towns, getting attacked by the local populace, and whimsically wondering, "Hmm, wonder what I did here?"

Murder.

Well, yes.  But was it a guard?  Was I frustrated about something and so stabbed a woman in the back?  Did I massacre everybody only for it to be repopulated?

So many possibilities.  But they always let me off with a fine.

You lead a dark double life.

brb gotta go murder a farmer for his pants

He was askin' for it just by wearing them.

Belethor's too intimidated to politely ask me not to bring his store any more ragged pants.

This reminds me of the recent Fallout games where I'd leave a string of naked headless corpses along in my wake and somehow became hero of the wasteland.  Bethesda games really bring out the best in people, don't they?

The reveal something about all of us at the very least.....

Belethor is a sleazy piece of work in my book. He's like the Pawn Star of Skyrim . My fem Nord character Brienne is repulsed by him. Forsooth methinks he will be limbless forthwith if not soonest.

Thanks to mods, I leave the corpses actually naked. There's nothing like decapitating a guy, stealing his armor, and seeing that he has a raging hard-on.

Clearly died with a fear boner.

I'm playing an Imperial who's family was killed by the Dark Brotherhood. Killing the Imperial business rival that ordered the hit, he goes to Jail where he becomes a very smart criminal. He goes to Skyrim to re-start his life...AND KILL THE LAST OF THE DARK BROTHERHOOD.

I've also claimed a lovely island with a tent and a nice fire. Of course, I had to kill a fisherman and drag his body off the island to drift away in the river, but he was poaching illegal game, so fuck him.

I also just saw Django and loved it, and considering how badly Dark Elves are treated in Windhelm and Skyrim, I'm considering a Dark Elf character who likes to kill Stormcloak scum.

Made my Dark Elf. He likes axes and Destruction Magic, particularly fire. He's covered in scars and has bright red hair and a VanDyke beard. His name is Smoker (because of the fire spells).

I kinda want to write a western fantasy with the character now, so jazzed was I by Django Unchained. We'll see.

Kinda delighted with my real cute butchy High Elf warrior maiden.

I take back everything I said about the unchanging world killing my interest in this game. I picked it up on a lark to show a friend and am now completely reinvested in my Dunmer Rogue. The Thieves' Guild storyline alone is more awesome than most full games' entire plot, and I was a bitchy wussface spoiled brat for not digging this game's greatness.

I've had similar "complaints," but I've always seen that stuff as a next step rather than a strike against current Elder Scrolls games. Skyrim is great and I love it, but the thought of my involvement with the Dark Brotherhood (for example) having a major impact on the main plotline and my relationship to other guilds really gets me hard.

I love commas.

Don't know why, but I keep getting those in the most inappropriate situations.  On the subway, in my cube at work... I clearly live with much fear.

Thank God I'm not the only one that does this.

You dared attack ME?!?  Everyone will now know your humiliation as I steal your pants!

However, it was better in Oblivion when pants and shirts were separate so I'd leave a trail of corpses behind and all would know The Pantless Bandit had struck again!

Why not take it a step further and re-animate them as your minion to be killed by mudcrabs.
I seem to remember that the master level thrall spell, if cast even once, had a defect that affected your ability to pick up minor quests from NPCs.

Fighting the urge lately to start up Morrowind and play a mundane Breton alchemist/enchanter crossbow and throwing star using second story man, or a pure mage atronoch High Elf, and start with the shrine pilgrimage.

Does it still? I have a character with a master level thrall spell and I haven't had any problems getting minor quests from NPCs.

Used to though, but not any more.

I don't know. I haven't played Skyrim in a while.

My character was a conjuring thief. The only time in the game I actually used a weapon (spells included) on something myself was when I was mining ore and got snuck up on by a mudcrab, tagged him once with the pickaxe out of surprise before remembering that Hyeah Whatteveahrr is craven, and knows nothing of combat.

Lately I've been going back and playing some games I havent touched in awhile. Skyrim is next on my list. I have to at least finish the main storyline.

IGN (and Official Xbox Magazine) reporting that the next DLC expansion could possibly be called "Redguard":

A trip to Hammerfell? Count me in.

Redguards are my personal favorite group in the game, so I'm down with that.

How can I say no to more adventure? Sign me the hell up.

This is actually pretty cool...didn't even know this existed in the game (evidently via the latest DLC):

http://www.ign.com/wikis/the-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim/The_Ebony_Warrior

So he basically comes up to you in the middle of the street and slaps you across the face with an Ebony gauntlet, or something?

Fuck me -- my most "levelled" character is ALMOST at Level 55 right now, with most of my "major" skills maxed out. Looks like I'll have to use that "treasure chest" exploit to hit Level 80, if I ever plan on fighting this guy and a Legendary Dragon...

Is anyone else playing this on PC? I did my first playthrough when it came out and I just started up again with Dawnguard and a bunch of mods.

I've got Skyrim on the PC with a few mods. Most of them are just small weapon, armor, and facial mods though because my game seems to crash a whole fucking lot when any others are installed.

Have to have JaySus swords though! Because I need a proper longsword instead of the giant meat-cleavers the game insists on.

JaySus is pretty great, so is immersive armor/weapons. Winter is Coming - Cloaks isn't bad either when you run Wet & Cold along with Climates of Tamriel. You get proper blizzards with snow blind and a penalty to movement. I installed another mod, I can't remember the name, that makes snow accumulate on your character and companions too. Have you tried SkyUI? or Immersive HUD? Or any other cosmetic mods? I just put A Quality World Map in and I find myself looking at the maps and follow the roads a lot more with my compass turned completely off. It's cool to just saunter along on the horse and see what sort of trouble you run into. The Skyrim Redone mod isn't bad either, it changes a lot of the vanilla settings in the game, adds a shit ton of perks to the skill trees, etc.

If you're a glutton for punishment install Skyrim Redone, Dangerous Dragons and the Dovarkiid mods. DD and Dovar add more variety to the dragons and make them an actual threat, especially at low levels. You'll never run across a group of bandits or a few giants taking one out in the wild again, just the bodies and all the scorch marks from the roasting. Dovar adds around ten new named dragons that are ridiculous.

I haven't had any crashes yet on PC, I had way more on PS3. I had a little trouble with latency but I got that all ironed out.

Are you running any hotkey mods Lauren? It's nice to be able to just hit a key instead of having to go into your menu and switch up your dragon shouts mid-fight.

This playthrough I've been pretty big on just taking my time, enjoying it and what the mods have to offer, which is a shit ton for stuff that's made by every day Joes that just love the game.

I've got a few hot key mods, the quality world map mod, winter is coming, the immersive hud, the detailed faces mod, and every single one of Hothtrooper44's armor mods. I've also got the Dwemer pistol mod which isn't exactly lore friendly but it's the one thing I needed to make my Redguard pirate girl look totally perfect.

I have a bunch of mods -- an ENB Series, Cloaks of Skyrim, the more detailed World Map, Hothtrooper44's armors.  Oh, and nakedness and sex mods, because nothing makes me laugh like a 12-year-old more than my character nailing my companion in Whiterun's town square.

PS3 DLC finally coming in February. Finally, my Imperial version of Parker will get his cozy home in Hearthfire.

And the pc finally gets Dragonborn.

So, I discovered an awesome, random thing.

Rescuing the Sybil of Dibella (after telling daddy to stay home because I didn't want his death on my conscience) I wade my way through Forsworn* and get to the last guy, and he kills me four times without me making a dent.

My sneak and pick-pocket skill is way more than decent, though. I decide to see if I can disarm him.

I sneak up behind him, pickpocket, and notice one of his items is a..heart.

I steal that bad boy and the dude promptly falls over, dead before he hits the ground.

I rescue the little girl and the priest (for Molag Bar, for the priest's retrieval and eventual death I get a free house and a pretty sweet mace.)

*I assisted their leader and his guys in a jail-break. The least they could do was sit down and talk with me about the prisoners instead of trying to kill me.

Oh yeah! I discovered that accidently with Briar-Hearts myself! Really love those little details in the game.

Actually love the Foresworn in general, the entire Reach area might be my favorite section of the game.

Time constraints have forced me to make my bed in the Fallout camp, but damn if that doesn't tempt.

The Forsworn are a great concept and a fun fight, but they've never left one of my horses alive when I've had to go through their turf. The bastards killed Buttercup I, III, IV, and Cloppy.

Horses are for the weak.
