The first game abandoned any moral pretense and hackneyed superhero story template in favor of absolute mayhem, which was needed. It wasn't the best game of 2009 by a longshot, but I'm so glad to see a sequel.

I agree that NYC is tired, but exploration didn't do much for me in the first game anyway.

The trailer needed more Inception noise.

I enjoyed the first game, but couldn't motivate myself to continue with the main story.

The first Prototype started boring me to tears after a few hours. Find base. Consume dude. Press button. Fight scene! Get overwhelmed by the infinitely respawning enemies. Run away. Repeat. The second game would benefit greatly from a slower pace and fewer but stronger enemies.
