That Amnesia game looks fucking stellar!!! And it's a total steal at only $20. I'm downloading a torrented version now (I know, I know) to see if it'll run on my machine, and if it does than I'm totally buying it!

But what is there to say about insane? Nothing really. The teaser is a pretty cool looking art project though!

Dude. It's not published by EA or something, so you can't even half-assedly justify pirating Amnesia that way. Read this for a look at how the rampant pirating is affecting the developers- http://frictionalgames.blogspot.com/...s-release.html

I'll echo a talkbacker and mention my surprise at not seeing Eternal Darkness on the list. I played it through three times and was still pleasantly surprised by how it fucked with me.
It's not like it's a definitive list, just a few games I really like. Eternal Darkness just never stuck with me.

Btw- Amnesia has a demo up here- http://www.amnesiagame.com/#demo

I have an older machine so buying something without knowing if it works doesn't make sense. Anyway, it works and I bought it. I don't quite understand what I'm doing, but it is CREEPY as hell!

That's why companies make demos and list specs- so you can see how it plays on your system.

E.T.C., it against the rules to discuss or talk about pirating materials, regardless of your reasons.
There is an Amnesia demo available on Steam. Right here. The system requirements are listed as well.

edit: Sorry, I missed Alex's link above, but I'll use this opportunity to second his original recommendation. It really is a fantastic game, one of the year's best, and easily the scariest I've ever played.

I really like the look of that Arkham Horror, I always wanted to play Call of the Cthulhu back in the day ("NERDS!!!") but I was in the minority. I always loved the idea of you having so little chance of getting through any encounter physically and psychologically unscathed, the board game looks to have embraced this.

I'll have to pop in the games shop on the way home and steal a copy.

I made this suggestion before although I don't remember if it was on CHUD. Someone should really try to get the guys that made Amnesia and Del Toro together. Seriously. These guys got the Lovecraft type of horror better than anyone ever has. Maybe Nick?

We have to wait 3 years for Del Toro´s game.
It will probably be great, no doubt. But three years, man.

THQ has made some quality games, but it's no slam dunk. Their games seem to have some kind of vanilla streak running through their DNA. Maybe delToro's aesthetic is the kind of thing that will help them make something that reaches further than just above average.

Sorry, didn't know.
Anyway, I DID end up buying the thing and enjoyed playing it last night (in the manner suggested by the creators...with the lights all turned off and using headphones). Wandering around the Archives kinda scared the shit outta me.

I don't get why deltoro went with thq? I looked at their website and half of their top ten games are wrestling games. How is this a good fit for him? And what's the point of "announcing" a game 3 years before it's supposed to come out?

This is the one thing preventing me from getting excited. Even with the pedigree, Enter The Matrix taught me all sorts of lessons about how the wrong studio can sink a game like this.

Scary games are not for me, but I watched the trailer for that AMNESIA game last evening and yikes.. that is really not for me. Hiding in the closet from monsters? I'll stick with well lit open world maps, thankyouverymuch!

Just wanted to bump this back up and say that there's a thread in the board games forum about this very title- http://chud.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109308

Four games in and I'm utterly in love and looking to get one of the expansions. There's so many ways to play it, so many strategies, and really the atmosphere the game creates is pitch-perfect. Plus, you can play solo or with up to seven friends. Absolutely recommend picking it up.

Thanks Alex, off I trot to the games forum!
