I know this is going to be awful. And moronic. And uninspired. And insulting.

Fuck it, one please.

Sexy

Every time I hold off on buying the boxset, they put out another one.
Every time one of these movies comes out I remember that cruel fate is still denying us a Torque sequel.

Can't wait for this.

I'm so there.

Cut down on the CGI nonsense like the tunnels in 4 FAST 4 FURIOUS and we're good.

The Rock looks like he's having fun with the role, which is great.

The Rock AND Vin Diesel? I sometimes have trouble telling them apart. At least it won't be as bad as when I first saw Schindler's List and kept confusing Liam Neeson & Ralph Fiennes.

Also, thanks for that RIO DE JANERO, BRAZIL title. Couldn't tell by just the statue. ...

Also also, I guess someone played the favela levels of Modern Warfare 2.

Heh. That car chase with the safe might be one of the most gloriously stupid gags I've seen in a long time.
Yep. Want.

It is as though the movie gods knew what I needed this week in trailers. Yeah, like Pirates,t his is another franchise I am there for with bells on. And adding the Rock just makes it that much better. Loved the bit about never, ever, let them drive.
I was there regardless. But this trailer really sells it.

"Don't let them get into cars"

The movie was filmed around 80% in Puerto Rico, passing for Brazil. The filmed SOME brief scenes in Brazil the last week of shooting, but yeah, I recognize my island in 90% of that trailer.

Hell, from the looks of it, half of the big action scenes take place in EXACTLY the same stretch of city where The Losers filmed their big kidnap-an-armored-truck-by-helicopter scene. That's basically PR's Wall Street, and my dad was at an office nearby when they were filming and he noticed there was a stunt driver INSIDE the vault they're pulling, making it go from side to side like that... MOVIE MAGIC!!

That bridge in the very last shot? I'd take that bridge two or three times a week... it's really awesome to see some honest-to-goodness badass action scenes take place in places I'm familiar with!

Also, you might recognize two of Vin's lackeys from Fast & Furious (the two dudes always arguing in spanish) are back for this movie as well. They're HUGE Puerto Rican rap artists, big in Latin America. So, yeah, this movie's gonna make a shitload of money in Puerto Rico.

Trivia: The spanish song Vin's listening to in his car when he cameos at the end of FF: Tokyo Drift is a duet song by those two artists.

Fun fun fun. Stupid, sure, but all kinds of goodness here. Not leats of which is The Rock getting back to what he does best.

Do I need to catch up on Tokyo Drift and FF4 now? Cos I stopped after Tyrese's HONGRY episode, glorious as it was.
FF4 yes. Tokyo Drift actually occurs after FAST FIVE.

Continuity-wise, FF: Tokyo Drift (which introduced Sung Kang's fan favorite "Han" character) takes place after Fast & Furious and Fast Five.

F&F is more a sequel to the 1st movie, whereas Fast Five here seems to be all the previous films put into a blender. The gang is composed of Dom, Brian, Mia, Vince (from the 1st), Roman, Tej (from the 2nd), Han (from the 3rd), Gisele, Don Omar, Tego (from the 4th).

Poor Lucas Black.

There are certain locations that films love to use and reuse to great effect. Pont de l'Alma is a famous/infamous one if you're shooting an action movie in France.
