who is?  Seriously, no-one is playing the martyr for it.  Some people like it, they are responding to the people who absolutley loathe it because it just does not seem to justify that level of hate.  I can understand peope who find it 'meh', find it pretentious, or an egregious let down (for whatever reason) but statements like 'literaly the worst movie I've ever seen' just baffle me.  But that's not playing any kind of martyr for it, it's just defending a movie that you either like or simply don't find to be as offensive as it's made out.

Further to that it also baffles me why people can't just let other people like what they want to like.  This whole thread put me off the Internet for a long time, not because 'ooh someone said something mean to me' or 'someone doesn't like the film I like' but because it became so representative of how unbelievably fucking annoying the Internet is. IT'S THE BEST THING IN THE WORLD, NO IT SUCKS .. repeat ad nauseam. When even an allegedly intelligent forum like chud descends to that level of twattishness it just enhances my lack of faith in humanity in general.

Well let's just shut the boards down if people disagreeing pisses you off so much.

I meant to add that as weird and obvious as Clu's effects were, I was still impressed by them.  They were convincing enough and the expressions were pretty good.  Maybe the fans and non-fans of this movie can be summed up by that one point?  If you found Clu too distracting and terrible, then you didn't like the movie.  If you accepted Clu, then you accepted the movie? :)

I was more distracted by Young Jeff Bridges in the real world. In the Grid, I was actually able to get behind Clu seeming kind of off-kilter and artificial looking, even if that wasn't the intention. It made him having a superiority complex about perfection a bit more ironic.

It's tricky.  At times, it seems as if the effects on CLU are on the level of the 4-year-old Beowulf.  But then, it's sharing the screen with flesh and blood actors, so it automatically undergoes more unconscious scrutiny.  CLU works in slightly wider shots.  Anything that goes from medium to close feels off.  The head does a bit of a Clooney waggle and it's creepy when he emotes.

Maybe you're right wd40.  I don't think the film is good, but I don't hate it.  My reaction to CLU lies somewhere in the middle.

No, there's a lot more wrong with this movie, on a fundamental script level. But when talking to fans who defend it as pure spectacle, Meat Puppet Jeff must be addressed as the failure it is.

I get that.  I was partially joking.  On an incredibly basic level, it amused me that a person's reaction to the film was directly relative to whether they tolerated Clu.

Sorry, missed the smiley.

Why is it that nobody uses guns in The Grid except for Michael Sheen and vehicles?  Does The Grid have an anti-gun legislation program?  Is that why everyone (CLU's henchman and the rebellion) uses light sticks and discs?  Do you have to hide your firearm in a dandy cane?

Picked up the Tron: Legacy R3CONF1GUR3D album. It's remixes of the soundtrack, done by some of the biggest names in dance music. Check it out.

NEVER spell 'reconfigured' like that again!!!  Hahahaha

But I WILL check it out.

I have been listening to this.  A few tracks are ok. Some are fucking outstanding particularly the remixes by Com Truise and Kitheory.  The remaining tracks are awful to boring.  This album has cemented my utter disgust for Kaskade.  He MUST be a joke.

Ah Kaskade is not that bad...the Tron track is pretty good, "Move for me" and "I remember" are great songs.....but that's it as far as good music goes. I like the Tron reconfigured album as a whole...but yeah there is some filler there...Paul Oakenfold must have been asleep when he made his track.

Paul Oakenfold sounds like he's asleep during his Podcast intros so that doesn't surprise me.

Used the pricematch from Target that Amazon.com was using and got both the original and Legacy on Blu-ray last week. Finally getting around to seeing Legacy right now. Missed the beginning of it when we went to see it in the theater, and then horror of horrors, during the last section of the movie the projector bulb burned out. didn't hang around for them to fix it, as it was already late anyway. The 3D was great, and it still looks pretty good in the 2D Blu-ray. I'm still liking it as much as I did in the theater. I do agree with CGI Bridges looking decent when he's by himself in the grid, but not with anyone that's human around him. It's just strange that with all that money they spent, and the advancements in technology, that he still comes off looking pretty cartoony at points. Still looks better than "young" Prof. X and Magneto in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Michael Sheen also could pass for Paul Williams. He looks and sounds just like him in Legacy.

I still think Sheen looks and sounds like a bad Simon Pegg impersonator in it.

LAST STAND is five years old.

I used to be a massive Oakie fan back in the day, however, I disagree.  Of the club trance tracks on the album, I feel like his mix far outshines Kaskade's.  It isn't breaking any new ground, but it is quite solid to me.

BTW, Best Buy has a deal this week that any two Disney Blu's are 35 bucks.  So both Tron's could be on the cheap for those that haven't gotten them yet.  I have the unfortunate dilemma of needing Incredibles, Tron and Tron Legacy...son of a bitch.

What I like about Oakenfold's track is what i like about Daft Punk's original track....whereas Crystal Method really add  to "The Grid" track from the original soundtrack.

Damn couldn't find the Edit button. I meant to say that Oakenfold just takes one cool riff from the original CLU track and just repeats it, while Crystal Method really play around with The Grid track and make something really cool out of it. Not saying I hate CLU by the way...

I love most of the mixes on that remix album, except for the M83 one, which pretty much sucks.

Absolutely agreed.  The music isn't so bad, but cripes are the vocals unbearable.

agreed, it's a damn shame because musically it takes the original and runs somewhere totally different with it.   I think my fave at the moment is the triplet of Teddybears Adagio for Tron, Kitheory's Son of Flynn and Oaky's CLU.  Very loud in the car on the way to work today and was quite mint.

The vocals on that M83 mix just ruin it entirely.
