Actors' whom will never become ''stars.'' - Page 3

Wow. All I'd ever known about that show was its title (guys girls pizza place). Had no idea Reynolds and Fillion had starred in it. Was it all that popular?

Kinda. Four seasons, so it lasted a while.

Popular enough for 4 seasons, but not popular enough for a DVD release. *shrugs* Guess Reynolds and Fillion aren't stars after all.

New star qualifier!

One person I can't believe is a star is Shia Lebouf. Maybe if he did comedy films, but apparently he's the next Indiana Jones.

Shia's got determination and a real desire to prove himself; while I don't think he's that terrific, he's solid, and you'll never find me criticizing that he wasn't trying hard enough. I don't see him being Harrison Ford, but if you made me look at the current crop and pick the next, say, Tom Cruise, my money'd be on him. He's already a "name" star, but in a few years he'll get his defining role that will make him go big in a big way.

I'd say Shia is closer to being the next Keanu. The next Cruise? Tough one.

For comparison's sake: early Brad Pitt had 'disarming good looks,' because he was something of a pretty boy and had a real boyish quality to his smile, which were qualities that made me (and I'm sure a lot of other people) write him off as a genuine actor in the beginning of his career.
Sure, he's tough and fought bravely, but don't forget he spent most of the series with an adorable, child like grin on his face. He is unfailingly polite and the tender affection which he showered on his beloved Eirene was both deeply touching and profoundly moving, IMHO.

PS Something occurred to me that I wanted to comment on. Earlier in this thread, someone was saying that James Purefoy was the other megawatt talent on ROME who could potentially break out if given a shot. That person faulted his poor choice in roles for his lack of star status to date. However, it occurs to me he was cast as the lead in V FOR VENDETTA only to be fired. What happened? Could something bad have gone down that soured people on casting him again?

The V situation seems like the elephant in the room when it comes to Purefoy's career IMHO

Edit BTW that graphic is not mine, it is the only version of that image I could find. It's pretty funny though (IMHO), and goes to show the level of enthusiasm that still exists for Pullo
