De Niro and Hoffman on Letterman

As a longtime fan of watching De Niro be uncomfortable on talk shows I was elated to learn that he'd finally appear on Letterman. Throw in Hoffman's aloofness and you've struck oil.

Quite fond of the clapping De Niro is compelled to do when one of Hoffman's films is mentioned.

"Well we brought a good story down." LOL!

This was one of the most hilarious gauntlet of awkward silences.

The most awkward interview since Madonna decided to go on Letterman.

This is why I love David Letterman. Any other talk show host would go out of his way to kiss DeNiro's ass to make sure that there was a chance of a return visit. Dave spends the first three minutes of the interview doing what he did to John McCain by remote to DeNiro's face.

Yeah awkward, but Christopher Loyd makes them both look like absolute motor-mouths.

PS - I love how Deniro almost never looks at Letterman.

Yeah, great stuff. Remember when Letterman would bring Scorsese's mom onto the old show for cooking spots?

Did Ricky Gervais write this?

Loved that this interview milked laughs out of Bobby Kennedy's assassination.

Nah Dave (And Hoffman) knew exactly what was up. It's so wonderfully awkward though, you can't help but love it.

I love Letterman's interviews (the monologue writers can fuck off though) but I hate how the guest seats are aimed at almost 90 degrees to Dave's seat. Most guests find a way not to look totally awkward sitting there cranking themselves hard to their left but the setup is retarded, especially since Dave gets to swivel his boney ass round behind his desk and avoid collapsing his neck vertebrae.

Fun interview too. Dustin Hoffman is nothing short of a national treasure. No, fuck that ... he's a planetary treasure.
