Fucking A. Discovering Pauline Kael was like discovering Robert Altman for me, where you think you love something and then the universe spreads its legs and says "You have no idea."

Christ, that was convoluted. Horribly muddled metaphors aside, Kael is the best. I often read her 5001 Nights at the Movies for pleasure.

Dang. Site blocked at work.

I discovered Kael in my freshman year of college when I found all of her books in the university library. I killed a lot of time between classes reading her stuff. She was great, even when I completely disagreed with her.

Another fun quirk of hers: she hated RAIDERS, but loved TEMPLE OF DOOM.
