A Personal Journey Through The Criterion Collection

This is something I've been working on for a couple of weeks now; my goal is, Julie-and-Julia style, to see as many films in the Criterion Collection as I can in a year. This won't officially kick off until January 1st, which will be running in tandem with another film-related goal of mine, but it is something I'm jazzed about and it's a blog I can actually maintain. I hope!

Here's the link! First three movies were Antonio Gaudi, Kwaidan, and The Last Days of Disco:

Good luck, Brendon! This is a cool quest upon which you're embarking. Do you intend to track down the discs themselves in order to see the CRITERION approved transfers? Or does that not really factor into your overall goal?

Be sure to keep us updated, and I'll have to check out your blog once you get underway

PS At least by the years end you won't have to contend with the weight gained from all the butter you'd have eaten had you gone the J+J route!

I talk a little bit about my goal for it in the first post, but the primary factor is just seeing the movies. If I'm watching the actual Criterion DVD, then I might comment on the transfer/special features (like in the case of the only DVD I've watched so far, Last Days of Disco). But I'm a movie purist, and I want to see as many of these on the big screen as possible. In the next two weeks, I'll be seeing The Leopard and Army of Shadows at Film Forum, respectively.

Looking forward to your reading this. Consider the site bookmarked!

I've been trying to go through them all since I really got into film (as I imagine most folks who dig the company do) and one thing I've found is that no matter how much I initially think I won't enjoy or connect with a movie, I invariably end up happy I watched it. Glad you've found this to be the case with Antonio Gaudi.

#385 - I am destroyed by ARMY OF SHADOWS. Not like Jesse James destroyed the late lamented Domingo, but pretty destroyed:
