Only wrong note in that thing is Ruffalo getting a supporting actor nod for what was kind of an easy lay up of a role for him. I'd have dark horsed Kieran Culkin in there first.

Otherwise, in a righteous world, this is what the Oscars will look like.

Yeah, this list is pretty great. I agree with most of it, except Andrew Garfield. Saw the film again recently and while he's great, i don't think he's Best Supporting Actor great.

I was curious which category Hailee Steinfeld would end up being in. I guess this way she and Jennifer Lawrence can mop up. Whether they will, who knows? Good list.
I'm sure I could swap out this person for that other person, or put Steinfeld in best actress instead, but beyond "substituting good for another good", I can't see anything wrong or stupid in that list.

My god, it's like the online critics...know what they're talking about...or something.

Personally, I think Toy Story 3 is getting way too much love on best-of-the-year lists, and I'm disappointed to see it here. It feels more like a Pixar appreciation nomination than a recognition of this particular movie.
I think the TS3 love is a combination of appreciation for the quality of the series as a whole and how dark TS3 got towards the end.
TS3's still a damn good film, but it's only on par with the rest of the films in the list for Best Picture for 10 minutes at the beginning, and 15 at the end.
It wasn't even the best animated film of the year.

I'll agree with that.

Agreed. His noms are baffling to me. While he did a serviceable job and held his own, he was the weakest thing in the movie. Hammer or Timberlake are far more deserving.

I agree with every nomination on here. I can only hope the Oscar nominations are as right.

Nice to see these not get bashed somewhere, me being an OFCS member. All I can say is Enter the Void got my top vote for pretty much everything it was put up for, and it's nowhere on the list. So bear in mind that the noms don't speak for every single critic in the group, and that whatever legit beefs you have, it's a good bet some of the members share them.

Also I believe TS3 was a write-in for Best Picture.

Taking into account my limited exposure to many of the heavy hitters of the year, because they haven't come out here yet, I have to say that I can't fault this list at all. It's not surprising though. After all my primary avenue for film discussion and criticism is online, so it figures my sentiments would somehow align with these of the "online community".

Still haven't seen TTSS, Midnight in Paris, or Beginners, but zero complaints about the rest.

And the lack of a clear front-runner continues.

Yep.

Tree of Life vs. The Artist vs. The Descendantsthere can be only one.
