I just finished Exit Through the Gift Shop and it somewhat occurred to me that 2010 is a year filled to the brim with notable films depicting art. In various films throughout the year that I have seen and some I have not, art seems to have been a major topic of release.
Now, I may be completely off but art seemed to be satirized as above and also metafiltered in the same movie and also I'm Still Here.
Art, the art of film making specifically if you jive with a local interpretation, was played out before our eyes in Inception.
The destructive power of perfection in art illustrated very beautifully in Black Swan.
Artwork brought us an imaginative tale in The Secret of Kells.
Fashion, music and dance in Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky, The Art of the Steal gave us another look into the art world, Howl brought back up the eternal art/pornography debate.
I have a few others in mind that are tenuous connections to art but it seems like this year was heavily influenced by artists wanting to show how their art is made, received and it's effects on them personally in some instances.
