The year CONTACT came out on Blu-ray

Nice list! Like that your top 5 are actually above a 9.5 for you.
I agree! And oh my goodness Never Let Me Go. I really need to watch White Material. I know it wasn't on your list, but your list made me think of it for some reason.

I forgot MOTHER technically came out this year!
LAFCA included it, which reminded me.

Glad to see Mother on your list. Really a phenomenal film that sets up and pays off the big reveal of the central mystery perfectly, only to then loop around back to the real point of the film. Also, it's impeccably shot and acted an' shit.

There were a few on your list I haven't seen yet, but they were all on my radar except Never Let Me Go-- a film that I'm waiting to see with a lady friend (which means *HA* I may never see it.)

I love this.

Love the list too. Reminds me that I forgot to see Mother and Never Let Me Go.

Would love to see you guys do a top 15 performances of the year JUST to see Hye-ja Kim written about.

Great list. Like most, I missed your number one. And regret it. Wish it would burn ass a little faster to get to home vid.

I haven't seen Everyone Else, but I remember Beaks raved about it. And it's on Netflix instant, so....
EVERYONE ELSE is great, but one of the roughest rides you'll have with a movie in the last couple of years. Especially with the more bad periods you've had in relationships. I hunted it down after Beaks raved about it in his 'Best of Decade' column at the end of last year. It's one of those movies that really digs under your skin with the tiny things two people falling in and out of love can do to each other.

This is the closest list to what my personal list would turn out to be, overall. Although I still have to catch Never Let Me Go and Enter The Void.

Great list. I've barely heard anything about Never Let Me Go but it's definitely on my radar now.

Your list has danced its way into my heart Dre-mon.

Bucho's surprise line of the year - "Performance to savor: Keira Knightley"
This year's Top lists are so damn varied and eclectic. Nice job, everyone involved!

It was a surprise to me too, but I was with her for every moment, if you know what I mean. She was so on point (I mean, it's partly the role, too), that I remember watching it and getting distracted by thinking about how much she had me.

For my favorite performances it would be:
Actor: Michael Cera (2nd: probably Ben Stiller)
Actress Keira Knightley (2nd: Hye-Ja Kim or Natalie Portman)
S. Actor: Rhys Ifans (2nd: Thomas Hardy)
S Actress: Melissa Leo (2nd: Ellen Wong)
Vagina: Paz de la Huerta (2nd: Anna Kalaitzidou)

I'm kicking myself for having seen about half the films on the list.
But I'm glad to see Enter the Void included. Not a great movie by a long shot but certainly very memorable. And every reference to Paz de la Huerta's vagina made me laugh. Thanks Damon!

While watching the film for the first hour I thought it was a capitial M masterpiece, and then it kept going, but I'm reminded of Kubrick's endless steadicam shots in THE SHINING. There's a point while watching it, where you just get into the rhythms of the tricycle hitting wood and then carpet and then wood. As an experience, Enter the Void was easily one of the highlights of 2010 cinema for me.

Great list. I think it's about time I check out Exit Through the Gift Shop.

I'm glad to see Never Let Me Go uo there, everybody else seems to have forgotten it and I was starting to get worried. I haven't seen it, mind you, but the trailer left me in a pavlovian puddle of drool and I'm in love with both Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield, so the general indifference left me puzzled.

I can't really agree on Scott Pilgrim. It's exceptionally done, every frame is bursting with ideas and "didn't know you could put that in a movie" details, some of the performances are marvellous but I never could shake off the feeling that I'd gladly gut most of the characters with a machete. I totally admire what Wright managed to do with this film, my problems derive from the source material. It's just not for me.

A quick tangential note - the official SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD Facebook page linked your list!

Sexual image of the year: chick in EVERYONE ELSE cooking in only an apron and her underwear.

Nice list, Dre. Liked your comment on the middle-aged actress re: MOTHER (which I still have to watch). In a year where so many young actresses shined, it's sort of shitty to think about the fact that at some point, Hollywood will have no use for them.

As if I wasn't already upset enough that I missed Never Let Me Go's theatrical run...

Which would explain why currently 488 people "like" it.

So glad to see the Never Let Me Go love echoed in your list (fyi, the name change threw me the hell off for a minute there!), such a quiet, contemplative movie that seemed to barely come out at all.

To ask that question is to not understand what was accomplished here, which is a profound look at how we too often ignore our own mortality until it’s too late to go after what we want.
You distilled the essence of the entire story into one beautiful, easy to read sentence.

heh Somehow, NLMG sounds like it'd make for a good companion piece to Dogtooth, which I absolutely need to see now thanks to you and Josh.

So both Edgar Wright and Mark Romanek read or saw the list. This makes me happy. I can geek out on that right?
Definitely.
MORE than geek out!

Great list. I'm so glad you gave Everyone Else a shout out. That movie really sticks with you. I'm also glad you had Scott Pilgrim so high. Fuck the haters, that movie was pure cinematic gold.

For anyone who hasn't sen Everyone Else and Exit Through the Gift Shop, they're both up on Netflix Instant. Would make a great e-double feature.
