This is MUCH more wonderful that I imagined. Always love the podcasts, but the trivia (whipped gorilla), the commercial, the PSA were excellent. And the video clips added a lot more than I thought they would. 38 minutes of pure joy. And one minute where the random effects make shit look too crazy for comfort. 38 out of 39 is not bad.
Liked the first few minutes, but i'm not at home now (trapped at the in-laws), and as a long time listener i refuse to watch this on my phone in stuttering 3G. This must be downloaded as an mp4 and watched in HD! Steve's face - if you can call it that - may break the TV, but that may be a price worth paying.

2 points: liked the Predator vision.

Justin, as a fan of 90210 i thought you would have drunk Dr. Pepper!
1. I always imagined Justin as a big ol' curly-haired bear of a feller like Brad William Henke but instead he looks like a straight-haired Brad William Henke sans five donuts a day.

2. I love Steve Murphy more and more with every frame.

3. Camera shakes with Renn laughter = bonus.

4. Kate Mara = boner.

5. "Jake Busey is looking for work". That tickled. All of the captions tickled. Especially the one about the whipped Danny Aiello gorilla.

6. Justin needs to get his damned hands away from his blessed face.

7. Nice interstitial graphics. That's the jargon, right? Interstitials? But the effects (the swirls, colour fuckarounds, Steve nose-picking, etc) don't seem to add anything for me.

8. MORE!!!

Bucho, is it just me or does Steve look like a serial killer?

I always thought Steve was black. Not sure why...

More CHUD podcast videos. MORE!

This was an awesome debut, and am already wanting to see another one. So much hilarity.

This is killing me.

Fucking amazing. So much love for this thing coming out of my heart hole.
It was alright. I demand that the next ones have dancing in them. In monkey suits preferably. With fezzes.

Constructive criticism time now. Nick was great. Justin was, sadly, a bit too tense. Loosen up a bit dude. Nick should roofie him for the next one. And Steve looked a bit bored at times.

Thanks. Justin is a tense man and he was sick. Steve is ALWAYS bored. Every podcast we've ever done that's the case. That's the magic of Steve.
Have you thought about slipping something in their drinks?
You put a camera in front of someone and 99% of people tense up. Justin just looked a little shy (adorable) and yes, sick.
I'm only 17 minutes into this but loving it so far. This format is definitely working well. More thoughts when I finish.
Yeah, I had the flu and was in bed for two days after this. But I'm betting that non-sick me would turn in a similar tense performance. Nick's kind of a natural at this stuff, so that helps.

However, I have already gotten three e-mails from prisoners to Nick's zero.

Hot!
The "BAFFLED -->" and Nick's How can I do my trapeze with you killin jews song were amazing.

I'd have to agree with the toning down the effects suggestion. I liked the multiple angles and occasional strange close up but I felt like the rest distracted.
Justin looks nothing like I imagine.

Steve looks exactly like I imagine.

This was fantastic and I would love to accept more into my bossom.
The awkward pause after Nick says he'd love to fuck a dude.

Rest in Pontypool.

"How were the 3D?"

Thumbs up, gents.
I dunno how feasible this is, but I'd love to see a 2nd camera so that you can close the circle a bit and look at each other like an actual roundtable. That way you could cut between cameras and it wouldn't feel so staged. Also, this would prevent anyone from wondering if they needed to look at the camera.

Otherwise, love the found ads and PSAs. A lot of what you have in episode #0 is working really well.
I didn't mind the seating arrangement but the fixed camera was aimed slightly too high. Maybe that happened during the fuck Steve angle change but there was too much above their heads on screen. Renn's hand held work was good though. The focus out onto the skull in particular cracked me up.

And I didn't feel like Justin was especially tense. The lurgy was obviously being no fun all up in his head but in aural form he's always been fairly delightfully deadpan and in video form he's about what I imagined. I actually think he has a fairly natural screen charisma even in spite of what self-consciousness there might have been.

Also, one of my favourite CHUDshow things has always been big-hearted Justin and curmudgeon-hearted Nick disagreeing on the attractiveness of a lady so I was entertained mightily by that part of the discussion here.

I was thinking more like a Bond villain. He may even be Mads Mikkelson's younger, Georgia-accented brother. Although Bond villains are serial killers so I suppose I can't disagree.

Steve still has a shitty quarter-beard.

Haha that has happened so many times, I didn't even really realize it.

I'm enjoying this immensely. Also: mustaches!

The voice of the stomach in the ad sounds EXACTLY like the dude who reads the Lee Child books.

Exactly.
This was really, really great. Thank you gentleman.

Double thanks to Justin who fought through a crippling sickness to deliver that BLACK SWAN joke.

Triple thanks to whoever unfolded that STAKEOUT poster.

A peek behind the curtain:

I thought it was funny but could have been tighter. Almost all of the cutaway stuff (the trivoa, video clips and commercials) worked for me, but I found the fooling-around with video effects kind of annoying - especially the upside down camera. I felt like there's probably a 30ish minute version of this that's just about perfection. But what the hell do I know? Good job, all in all!

Other random feedback:

I think the shot would work a little better if Nick wasn't centered right in the corner. Maybe scoot the camera to the left or right a foot or so.

Steve has a lipless, Kevin Bacony smile. Not a bad or a good thing, just an observation.

Rooney Mara isn't attractive?
Awesome show, great job!

Listened with headphones and it was vaguely in "fuckaround."
Justin is just as studly as his voice suggests. Agree with him that THE FOUNTAIN was "neat."
Agree with with NN that that the blonde in TRON was hotter than the brunette.
Agree with Steve that Nick should really invite these two to more advance screenings so they can discuss current films in future podcasts.
Renn did a great job with video/editing. Upside-down cam was annoying, but the other flourishes were welcome. Clips, captions, etc.

Suggestions:
I'd like to see more of the sites new staff appear on-screen.
If you want to add a "Donate via Paypal" link I'll do it.

A great way to end the year. Thanks, guys.

Justin, the actress in question's name is pronounced Sear-sha Ronan. To be fair to you, that's definitely one of the more unusually pronounced Irish lady names, a bit like Roisin (Ro-sheen) or Aoife (Ee-fa) I suppose.

This was great. Pretty much the minute I clicked on the article, I thought of making the top picture my desktop background. All the banter, quips, and little asides I love about the regular, audio-only show translate beautifully, but there's something wonderful to be said for seeing the video-only contributions to the humour in the form of glances and such. Hope these become a regular feature alongside the normal show.

That was fantastic in and of itself, but the point where Nick used it to illustrate the joke about Sheen was delightful.

Thanks, Bobby. I was actually still wondering about that. I really wish they hadn't shortened the title for her new flick, which was:

Hanna: Trained by Bana

A pleasure, sir. To show just how strange a name it really is, when she appeared on an Irish TV chatshow to promote The Lovely Bones, the host even commented on that. It's not like there are Saoirse's running around everywhere.

Before it goes out of my head, I loved the "there's a hole in my Brolin" reprise. That really felt like a little nod to all the long-time fans and it went over a treat.

I don't envision doing audio only podcasts anymore, just having audio versions of these. Which is basically the best of both worlds.

And yes, we'll cut the cheesy effects down. There's a reason this was episode 0.

It would seem a waste to have three such debonair gents (plus special guests once in a while ... ?) sitting down to chat about stuff and not capture the suaveness in motion. I whole-heartedly support this notion. CHUD video is like magic potion. I'll be right back, just grabbing lotion.

As long as nothing stands in the way of, say, a certain Zombie guesting once in a while...

Cool, but don't eliminate them altogether. I'm not a vegan.

Oh shit, I didn't even think of this. I'm sure the boys will come up with something clever.

Is there a direct link to the video podcast that works while the main site is down?

Spread it around. Facebook share it. Jack off to it.

After years of reading (all the way back when every dvd review included "does it star Paul Giamatti?"), I had to register just to add to the love of the video podcast. So much greatness. I've been such a fan of the podcast from the beginning and just wanted to let you know that there are fans out here listening even if we're not posting yet. Thanks for putting the time into the show, it's much appreciated! I eagerly await the next one!

Also, what was the name of Steve's creepy doll that had multiple disguises or something? It should be a centerpiece.
