CHUD New Year's Eve 2011

Thread Starter

As of 11 59 PM 12/31/2010 AD, another year will have passed and we will all be that much closer to facing our own mortality

On that note..

Does anyone have any fun plans for ringing in the New Year? At this moment at least, I am choosing to play it by ear. I recieved an invitation to a gala event, but I've declined to attend, so instead I think I'll watch the TWILIGHT ZONE MARATHON by myself and get creeped out in a big empty house. Does anyone else go in for TWZ marathons at years end?

Anyway, I figured we could use this thread to kick off 2011 AD in style! Are there any Chewers out there who are planning on serving special foods or beverages to mark the date? I am going to get my mom to get me more caviar, which is always festive and good fun. To drink? Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider!

I have special NEW YEARS branded plastic dishes and champaign glasses, as well as a plastic New Years Hat. I got them two years ago and I'll probably bust them out for 2011 as well

Princess Kate, I am going to a different...Planet to celebrate New Years! The destination of course is...JUPITER...Florida, is the destination, and I am going on a...Jet Blue Shuttle, tomorrow evening.

My plans: dress respectably, drink, and try to fuck someone.

Not to split hairs but it should be 2010.

New Years is a shit holiday. Too many people who can't handle the booze. Amateur night.

I thought about that and it seemed like it should be 2010 to me, but I did research online and everywhere else seems to be referring to it as NEW YEAR'S EVE 2011

Go figure

If they are all wrong though a mod could feel free to change the thread title and I'll even make up new graphics. As for alcohol, that's one vice in which I tend to avoid indulging, even on New Years (except for NEW YEARS EVE 2008/9/whatever)

Anyway, sounds like everyone has cool plans lined up, Good luck on your voyage to the Final Frontier, Mr Fleed!

Going with my girlfriend to spend New Year's with her family in Temple. Also hoping to hit up some Half Price Books in Austin on Saturday with my friEnd who's driving up from San Antonio, before we go back home on Sunday.

Always with the fucking, you. Grow up already. And no dancing.

My options will be either sitting in front of my television or sitting in front of somebody else's television. Livin' large!

To be fair, these are my plans most nights. Because I like drinking. I WILL DANCE IF I WANT TO!

Fuck yeah! You're almost as good at partying as I am.

Princess Kate, That is a...Great pic of Jupiter. IO...U, thanks for that one.
Seeing as I went out for drinks last night to celebrate my birthday and I havent spent more than 12 hours at home this holiday, I'm going to spend this NYE at home with the wife.

Will probably watch Jools Holland on BBC2 as he always has great NYE guests.

These.

Friend got a timeshare at a beach house in Newport Beach. Gonna go party there! I hate Orange County but all this shit is free and maybe I can hate-fuck a Republican girl.

Going downtown to The Grove House with my girlfriend. Its a complex with three different clubs in it. 20 dollar cover gets you hors d'oeuvres, entry to all three clubs, and the champagne toast at midnight.
The original plan was a martini and blues party but illness may change those plans. I suspect it may be a Top Gear marathon and Buckley's Cold Medication while cuddled on the couch with Mrs H and the menagerie.
I'm going to a house party. But I have flu, so it's not going to be as awesome as planned. I'm really disappointed as well, cos the guy that's hosting it is infamous for having really insane things happen at his house parties and I'm going to be sat wrapped up warm not drinking while everyone else embarasses themselves
post #18 of 44
I'm not much of a club guy so I usually just go to a friend's house. Getting over being sick so I'm not even drinking this year. Not that that stops me from hitting a bar around midnight to see what's what.

If Newport on NYE is anything like the 4th then it oughtta be fun if you're anywhere near the downtown/pier area. But yeah, you might have to hate-fuck your way in and out of there (gender be damned).

Pics or it didn't happen.

Throwing a bash at my house and an impromptu jam session is expected (We'll have the gear set up and enough musicians in attendance).

Then, at 5am, all the survivors will go around the corner to have fricase for breakfast (a Bolivian NYE tradition).

My fellow chewers are all invited and expected to attend in spirit. We'll try to find a couple of respectable girls so that Damon and Jake can have some sex (You can use my room and take turns. Just don't mess up my sheets, there are towels in the top closet cabinet - and I'm saving that bottle of white for a special occasion, please leave it alone).

About to get picked up so I can go eat caviar and hang out with my mom and dad. Woo!

Ps You are most welcome, Mr Fleed, but it's not like it was a monolithic undertaking to find that photo!
I plan to continue to watch Canada beat Sweden at the World Juniors and then head out for dinner and then to Niagara Falls (Canadian side of course) where Great Big Sea and the Barenaked Ladies are playing an outdoor concert for free.

Well the soiree at my moms is drawing to a close, and I am getting ready to head back home to watch CARNIVALE and TTZ till the ball to drop. Here is a photo of our caviar and cider (and corgi!) hors d'œuvres

CJ the corgi looks non plussed in this shot because I made her jump up on the sofa for this photo, but she crashed back off and landed on her head. She only made it up on her second attempt, which succeeded shortly before this photo was taken

Hope everyone else is having a wonderful evening

We're heading to a costume party where there's a good chance all of two people will be in costume.
Options tonight: continue reading the goofy The Lost Symbol, work on my WW2 aircraft jigsaw puzzle, watch The Marx Brothers marathon on TCM, eating an entire frozen pizza.

Options not available to me: kissing anyone, getting killed by a drunk driver.

Friend's apt that overlooks Times Square, so I'll be able to see the festivities without actually having to deal with tourists and cops.
happy New Years Chewers. Enjoy yourselves but don't do anything dumb!

I just started on that. I'm about 120 pages in. I guess it is pretty goofy. But it's astounding to me how Dan Brown just sucks you in and keeps you turning the pages despite being a pretty awful writer.

That sounds awesome Diva. You can actually watch the ball drop live from a NY window. I gotta settle for CNN on my flatscreen.

Wait a minute... I'm actually one hour ahead of you.

I'm writing you all from THE FUTURE! (I'll let you know what 2011 looks like)

Happy New Year everyone.

Don't worry, that's precisely why I elected to stay home tonight. When the Millennium Bug launches it's surprise attack 11 years late, I will be safe and indoors under my Xmas Snuggie

Erix, please do update us on the state of the future.. And Diva, that does sound cool. Enjoy the Ball Drop! I am debating whether or not I should try to haul my hd tv down stairs to hook it up to the cable so I can watch the ball in hd. Otherwise I'd have to watch in SD

2011 is looking great so far.

Happy New Year everyone...

I have cause to celebrate because EVO (fucking) MORALES, who earlier this week raised gasoline 85%, was forced after massive public outcry to cancel that decree.

It's political bullshit that probably interests no one. But it's a cause for joy here.

Haha thanks, MBN! My mom asked if I wanted to use it and it was an easy choice. I thought it made for a nice photo with the caviar, silver butter knife and fancy drink

Have a happy New Year, 11 mins to go!

Way to be fatalistic, Kate. Some of us a closer to contemplating our mortality than others. Btw, sorta tried to fuck a Brooklyn (Williamsburg!) girl tonight. Ok, lemme come clean. More like-- try to impress her with my acerbic wit.

I had a blast with three hilarious and awesome friends, skinny-dipped, and woke up next to a girl that I really like a lot. Went out 500 feet to the beach and took some great pictures of the first morning of 2011. Happy New Year, y'all.

I was one of those tourists: NEVER AGAIN.

Unless I have a similar setup to yours. God that was a painful experience >.>

I spent it in a hotel room in Denver doing work that I planned to finish earlier in the evening except I was delayed at the airport (fuck American Airlines).

Having been in NYC since 2004, I cannot comprehend anyone doing the Times Square Ball Drop bit. You stand outside for 15+ hours for 1 minute of excitement and "Auld Lang Syne". No thanks.

Bravo sir!

I did text/BBM back and forth that evening with a gal I met a few nights earlier. Not sure what it is, but we are hitting it off well and I have a very good feeling there. Hope it works out well for you Jake.
