L.A. CHEWERS: THE WRIGHT STUFF SEQUEL IS GREENLIT

To the New Beverly, Batman!

Skol. Is it wrong that I was hoping he'd show FLASH GORDON again? I want to hear Timothy Dalton talk about his mustache once more.

January is going to be brutal on my wallet.

Most excited for the FRENZY/DRESSED TO KILL twofer. The DRIVER/DUEL double is also going to be must-see.

And for those who don't check the Regional section of the forum, DOGTOOTH - Top 15 loved by Damon and I - plays for a week at the Cinefamily starting this Friday.

Speaking of hurting wallets - New Bev really needs to offer monthly passes.

Man, that is an awesome lineup of films. Definitely going to hit as many of these as time and money allow.

Holy crow! I'm actually going to be in LA that first weekend to visit some friends! Oh no.... I wonder if one of them would be interested in going to this for her birthday. She loves Shaun and Fuzz... not so much Pilgrim...
If you plan on going, I would buy your tickets on-line.
Definitely. I'm already in the process of trying to contact my friends down there.
Do you know exactly when the tickets go on sale? Also, is it $10 for the entire triple feature? That's an amazing deal!
It should be later this week. If you're on Twitter, the New Beverly Twitter will surely announce it.
Thanks Dre!

That's right. I'LL NEVER CALL YOU BY YOUR REAL NAME. Old habits...

Damn, looks like I'll need to actually use the Twitter account I started on a lark.
If any of you fuckers come into town, we need to hang even if I don't get tickets for one (or any) of these. PM me.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'll start something in the West Coast Chewers forum
post #13 of 33
After the story Phil told us in the chat room... I dunno... Hahahaha
post #14 of 33
History will not repeat in that case.
Aw.

Jake is well behaved for movies.

Damn, I saw Super Cops at the drive-in. And on Channel 5 in NY like a dozen times. Co-stars David Selby of Dark Shadows/The Social Network "fame."

And I can't believe it took this long to put The Wanderers and The Warriors on a double bill. Also, I hate all of you.

The local Cinematheque is hosting Crispin Glover for three nights but I'm still really tempted to fly down for a week and experience this. It would be a mad scramble putting the pieces into place but totally worth it to see Wright present Brazil and Dirty Harry, not to mention his output.

I'll just have to see how tickets pan out for 14-15. Perhaps I'll stick around for American Graffiti/Animal House.

Kinda in Joe's boat...

I'm considering exploiting the flight benefits I've just come into and flying out to LA for some of this, if I can land some tickets. Finding SCAD people with couches and figuring out transpo might be a nightmare, but it could be worth it and a good excuse to finally get out there for even a couple days.

Would anyone have any suggestions what the best stretch of time might be for pulling that off? Any part of that two weeks that also has some extra special crazy shit going on?

Renn: Check LAist.com and LAweekly.com for happenings - they sometimes post stuff day-of, but a lot of it's free events that are in pretty easily accessible parts of the city if you stay in L.A. proper).

If you can swing it, you should come out for the first week of the Wright Stuff. There's also some excellent other film shizzle happening around town that you can movie your brains out on. Some Jodorowsky films, THE LEOPARD, a hilarious compilation of "Very Special" episodes of classic sitcoms, an evening with M. Emmett Walsh, an all day marathon of LORD OF THE RINGS, and if you're around Jan 21 you of course must come see the new killer tire movie RUBBER (hosted by me!).
If I can manage to get the tickets, it sounds like my friends and I are gonna try to get to the opening night of the Wright Stuff. Friday the 14th. Hope to bump into you guys there!

The advance ticket sales start Friday at Noon, PST.
Damn Josh, you just killed it with the RUBBER thing. I'm desperate to see that. LOTR marathon sounds amazing as well.

Well shit. Maybe a weekend or something will work. Who knows- I'm pipe dreaming.

Awesome. I'm putting the link for the site here!

I have no idea how fast people are going to be rushing to buy tickets to this. Anyone have any idea?

I suspect the triple Wright feature will sell out quickly. Other than that, who knows?
I really hope this isn't one of those cases where the site moves like molasses due to the demand. When that happens to me, it'll finally load up once everything is gone. So sad.

Carpe diem.

I'm hoping I don't get in trouble for telling you guys this, but I was told that there will be something special for the Sautrday Wright triple feature.

Dammit.  Some of my friends can only do Friday.

Seeing as how Wright tweeted as much on the New Beverly twitter, I'd say you're safe.

I'm also kinda locked into the Friday showing (if I can score the tickets).  If I knew the specifics of what the special something was, I would feel better about trying to change plans...
