Remember when 9/11 was sacred and trivializing the event was taboo? Yeah, I don't either...

This movie sounds like a disaster on par with that Robert Patterson vehicle a year or so back.

Having just listened to the audio book of this recently, I would say that 9/11 is pretty much just a backdrop. The bombing of Dresden is just as prevalent in the story as 9/11. I liked the book well enough, but it definitely treads a very fine line between touching and cloying, something the movie will probably trample all over.

My understanding is that an audiobook of the novel would be kind of counter-productive, if all of the meta-formatting stuff is as important as it seems. How was it as a purely prose experience?

I got it for my hour-long commute. They use three different narrators: one for the boy, and two others for the grandparents that write all the letters.
