IT'S TIME - Page 4

Two things. First, congratulations to Nick the crew that put this together. Second, I really apreciate all the hard work you have done to finally get to this point because I know you do it so that every chewer out there can have a greater experience on this awsome site, so THANK YOU.

I feel a little like I'm at Tiffany's;  everything is so new and shiny that I'm afraid to touch anything.    I'll get over that soon, I'm sure.  

 

It does like nice and CHUDtacular. 

To access the mobile site, just go to chud.com on your phone and it should automatically redirect you. If it doesn't, sit tight. We are working on getting a specific address set up for the mobile version.

Okay, this looks awesome on an iPad.

I'm still poking around.  Honestly, there was a lot of old CHUD that I didn't explore, so it will take me a while to find my groove with this, but so far i like it a lot.  Modern, but not TOO modern.  So far the only thing I'm not nuts about is that I need to scroll a bit to get to an article after navigating to it (maybe the radioactive grill is a little large for my tastes).  But that's my only complaint among a large double-handful of marked improvements, especially in searching / feedback.  I'm a little lost so far on some of the MB stuff, but a few issues with that seemed to have disappeared since yesterday, so I'll be patient.

 

If writing reviews is going to be as much-improved as I hear that it is (I'll know real soon) then I will leap for joy.

 

All in all, I think it's great and can't wait to get settled and prop my feet up.  Get some sleep, Nick.  You've earned it.

Also, I'd love to see a mockup of a CHUD redesign from Brad Millette.

However...I hate to admit this, but I can't get to the site!! The forums loaded this morning no problem, but every time I try to access the site itself, I'm still getting the "we'll be right back" page. Is it down again this morning for tweaks, or am I doing something wrong? Help...I wanna see all the new shiny things.

 

ETA: And how do I insert an actual picture into my post?? I guess I'm more tech-illiterate than I realized.

I still have problems getting to the site proper, too. Sometimes it's there. Sometimes I get the "we'll be back" message. Sometimes I get a "forbidden" page. Seems totally random. Refreshing or deleting cookies doesn't immediately help.

Checked in last night and got the "We'll be Back" [great job with the graphic design!] page -- now I automagically get redirected to the main.

I'm sure I'll get used to the design and I'm sure the forums are much snappier than vBulletin (don't know what it was doing, but it took a while to fully load).

Quick question: spam/abuse protocol is the same as before? Any extra protections?

 

Just wanted to add that I LOVE the forum dropdown shortcuts. But hopefully you won't lose too many page hits due to this.

Fore what it's worth, I clicked through the banner ad for Red Vines and entered their contest. Because goddamn I love me some Red Vines.

 

Moral of the story: CHUD needs more ads for candies I love.

I've been getting a "forbidden" error in Safari, as well.  No problems in Firefox, though.

It's beautiful!  And the forum is so fast.  Loves.

While the new mobile version is a VASTLY superior experience now, I can't figure out how to access the forums with it. Is it not an option, or am I missing something?

Ok, very awesome site, but I do have another critique. On the main page you have what seems like 3 different ways to access news items:

1) The icons in the little film-reel thingie at the top. 

2) The radioactive creature-grill

3) The links directly underneath the grill

 

 

This seems like a lot of unnecessary clutter. It's almost like staring at iTunes interface, which I can't stand.

I figured out why I was having problems accessing the main site. I didn't have "chud.com" bookmarked. I had "chud.com/articles/" bookmarked. It seems that used to be the default homepage for the site, but not anymore. Changing my bookmark to chud.com solved all my "forbidden page" or "page not found" problems.

 

Now, what's the deal with trying to quote a forum post? Shows up as white text on a white background for me, making it impossible to edit. I'm not the only one having this problem, am I?

Color me impressed. It's been a hell of a week for me so Thursday was my first time getting to check in and see the new wallpaper, so to speak.

I'll echo the love for the new look, but I must also admit that it'll take some getting used to as far as navigating the site goes.  That's not a bad thing, mind you.

Has anyone else stopped receiving emails for the threads you've subscribed to?  Mine all just stopped after THE CHANGE.  Had it set for daily digests but now nothing.

Might wanna resubscribe.

When I click an embedded picture in a post, it pops up a picture viewing window that seems to have slideshow capabilities. Is there something we can read about how to use/customise that?

 

I hope this post goes through. Only about half of my posts on the boards actually get posted. A lot of times I'll hit the submit button and then that box will pop up that says, "Please wait, loading..." and then nothing will happen. I can leave for ten minutes and come back and the stupid box will still be loading.

Ok. Tried resubscribing to all my threads to get the email digests again. No go. I changed all the settings to Site Only and then back to Daily Digest. No go. I even checked off that box down at the bottom to keep having the emails come in regardless of how long I've been away from the site. No go. Any help at all Nick! Please!
