I devour true crime books like a monster (no pun intended), and I'd always pass this one by on the shelves but never picked it up. It seemed interesting, but I dunno, it never really grabbed me. Oddly enough, I never knew it was actually a bestseller! Now My curiosity is piqued.

As for a director: Anton Corbijn or bust.

Il Mostro was the basis for a lot of the Florence stuff in Hannibal. Thomas Harris is actually a minor character in the book. This has potential to be Zodiac in rural Italy, which isn't bad at all.

The story is interesting and it has Clooney so i'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

This non-fiction book was terrific, and the involvement of the author himself became a huge 'plotpoint', if you will. He's currently championing a young American woman who's being raliroaded by the same satan-obsessed Italian judge.

The whole thing is remarkable, and truly frightening.

Saw the Dateline special on this a few years ago. Needed more Keith Morrison, but still no getting away from the fact that it's a DEEPLY fucked up story. Should make a really interesting film.

I've had this book for ages and have not read it yet.  Guess it's time.
