The New CHUD - Page 4

My work computer got fucked by the Palladium Antivirus Trojan. I was on the Going to the Gym thread when it happened, had no other windows open. I can't replicate it and can't tell you which ads were open at the moment, because the entire goddamn thing took over my PC and I was unable to check links or even clear my cache. Feel free to move this or whatever, but I'm not logging back in on here until this gets rectified, because I can't afford a new personal computer at the moment, not counting how livid my boss is going to be Monday morning,

That's just fucked up.

How do you get rid of/change your sig?

You'll find it near the bottom of your profile page.

I'm warming to the new site but I'll be honest, I haven't been able to watch Renns vid yet as I access chud mostly at work. I haven't seen these questions addressed in this thread and apologise if I'm repeating them from somewhere else but here goes...

How do I change the line of text that appears with my avatar and where is the ignore function these days?

Either way tho, I like the new look, doesn't bother me at all as long as the same chewers I love are here.

RD, if you move your cursor over a user's name where they've posted a message, a little drop-down menu pops up.  It's got an "Ignore User" option at the bottom.

Go to "My Profile" at the top of the page, then click "edit community profile". Your user text will be at the top of that.

Awesome - thanks fellas.

Some little cosmetic tweaks on front page. Take a peek.

Veddy nice.

Looks like you toned down the color of the vines/tentacles behind the articles.  Yes?  Very wise if so.

Nick, I don't know if you care about this editorial stuff I am complaining but sometimes the titles are really obscure and it's hard to guess about the content. If it's a (new) column it's even harder.

And I got smashed by a trojan too. Same one as Jake.

Looks like the new Chud is like the old Chud.

Is Nick gonna say that it's my antivirus who's the problem? Cause if that's the case it's bullshit.

Nick, Chud could have been so great if had invested real money into it, instead of patching it with volunteer work, with the piss-poor results it gave you.

1.  Which page/thread were you on?

2.  Which security software do you use?

3.  When's the last time you updated the definitions?

4.  Keep the smarmy bullshit out of the thread or go the fuck away.

I will say this, it feels like a lot of stuff is getting lost in the wash on the forums at the moment. Maybe I'm talking about the wrong things but I've watched three new threads kind of die on the vine (barely a dozen views and no replies) and even updating old threads doesn't seem to be getting peoples attention.

Yeah, there's definitely reduced traffic.

I've noticed that as well. And thats what I am worried about.

I find that I don't have easy, intuitive access to a "go to last unread post in the thread" button, like I did with the old forum, when I go to "subscribed threads."  This has dramatically reduced my dwell time on the boards because just going to the last post in a thread and scrolling back is too inelegant.

Frank, I'm pretty sure just clicking the thread titles in both the subscriptions and new-posts lists will take you to the last unread posts.

That works for me on the "new posts" page, but not "subscribed threads."

Hmm it works for me. Are you using the beta-testing "activity feed"? Maybe subscriptions only work with that feature. Copy/paste the URL of where you go to see your subscribed threads so at least we're on the same page.

When you click on "COMMUNITY", your subscribed threads should all be listed underneath the scrolling article thingy.  Just click the thread titles and it will bring you to the first unread post.

Weird. I don't have any subscriptions under the scrolling article thing. I access them through the link under the top bar on the right, just under "Invite Friends" and the Uncle Mitch picture. Regardless, just clicking the thread link brings you to the last unread post.

Where's GUY.com?  You only have the rest of today before the front page is a liar.

So I had the new podcast page open for a while at work and got hit with a fake antivirus trojan.  Only other tab open was gmail.  I love coming here, but can we safely say this isn't a coincidence?

I opened the boards in FF, and my browser tried to execute Trojan.Win32.Generic.pak!cobra. Not sure if this is a false positive, but it set off alerts in both Ad-Aware and Firefox.

That's the one that's currently rogering my computer.

My Ad-Aware just blocked a trojan/virus/whatever that seemed to have come from this forum, as well. Hope this is being dealt with.

If anyone gets else gets it- start your comp in safe mode and run Malwarebytes. It's tricky cause the trojan doesn't allow you to open your browsers or task manager and tries to shut down your antivirus. Can't believe I've spent my afternoon dealing with this bullshit.

BROKE!

MY FUCKING!

COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...any word from the powers that be, re: this situation?  Seems like something you'd want to keep on top of.

Are you kidding? We have everyone associated with the programming of the site and ads on this. A lot of emails. A lot of experimenting, but no answers. I personally think it's the ad server.

Closing this thread. It was supposed to be about the new site and has sort of become a place where we're doing the same stuff we're doing in the appropriate bug/troubleshooting forum. Our tech folks will only address stuff posted there, so I'll close this.

Folks' comments have been heard and noted.

It's a shame that this place has become such a haven for negativity when 1.) The glitches have nothing to do with us and 2.) These boards have withered and need you folks now more than ever.
