Aspect Ratio on LCD

So here is the thing I have a Sharp tv and I set it on Dot by Dot. That is the mode that shows you the entire image, I think the Samsung version is called Just Scan. The thing is on 1:85:1 movies I get slight tiny black bars on the top and bottom. Is that how everyones works or is mine off somehow? I always thought 1:85:1 were supposed to fit.

My experience is similar to yours.  To the best of my knowledge, 16x9 is not exactly the same as 1.85:1, so the black bars are normal.  A perfect 16x9 ratio would be 1.78:1 (on a calculator, it shows as 1.777777777777777778)
