RON PERLMAN REVEALS HIS MADNESS FOR HELLBOY

One of CHUD's favorite faces talks about films we want.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume he misspoke when he said North Pole as opposed to Antarctica.

And I'd like to cast my vote for no more Hellboy, please.  I wasn't really a fan of the 2nd film anyways, and think it would be better to keep Del Toro on original properties.

The North Pole thing is definitely a mistake by Perlman. I wouldn't expect Shawn Levy to fuck up this bad, much less DelToro.

And as for a third Hellboy, I'm in. I want an Apocalypse brought on by tentacled gods from outer space as much as anyone.

I'm probably in the minority, but I would loooove a third Hellboy movie. Hellboy finally confronting his destiny? What's not to love?

I've always appreciated the Hellboy films more than I have enjoyed them, if that makes any sense.  That said, I'll take whatever DelToro I can get, so if it's in the form of Hellboy 3, so be it.

I would love to see...Hellboy 3!

Man, I hope Hellboy 3 happens.  Sounds like Perlman is up for the makeup again, at least.

Can't wait to see what Mountains of Madness is going to look like.

I'm ambivalent about a 3rd one.  And not because I didn't like the Hellboy II.  I rewatched it recently and its inventive, fun, and possibly might be the best comic book movie we've gotten yet.  But it ended on such a good point.  The comments has a guy talking about a new Hellboy just repeating the cycle of the first one (Hellboy is supposed to destroy the world, doesn't) and it gives me pause.  At the end, though, I trust GDT's judgement.

Christopher Lee? I didn't know he was in SOTW. Coooool.

And I'm on board for whatever GDT had planned for HELLBOY and Lovecraft. Bring it!

Having loved Perlman since his Beauty and the Beast days--I'm up for more Hellboy. I don't know about SOTW. The trailer just doesn't impress me so I might pass on it. The money would probably be better spent on buying Christopher Lee's metal cd.

I really hope we get to see a Hellboy III soon. Loved the first two a lot.

I'm half hopeful SOTW is dopey, atmospheric fun. Lee being in it does add a bit of interest.

And just Amening! the interest in whatever GDT does with Lovecraft and Hellboy. Really, really hoping MOUNTAINS gets made. HELLBOY III would be cool, too, but I'm one of the few around here who found it more of a production design marvel than a good flick or story. I still vastly prefer the first HELLBOY.

as someone who is finally delving into the joy that is Lovecraft, I really can't wait to see what Del Toro and Cameron can come up with in Mountains.

I'm with Ali on the Hellboy 3 ambivalence, and I'm a huge fan of the character as a whole-- not simply the comics or the movies. I think Hellboy 2 ended so perfectly and neatly that a third film isn't necessary. If we got one, of course I'd be jazzed all to hell and back and gleeful as the dickens, but I'd rather see Del Toro make other movies. (For now.) As far as Mountains, I am absolutely dying to see it get made, but I'm pretty sure I've pontificated on that subject enough times already so we'll just leave it at that. (I love GDT. (Shit, sorry.))

Didn't know Lee was in Season of the Witch, either. Cool. I'm having a hard time with that one since there are a lot of good reasons for me to see it, but I'm naturally just a bit put off by the spots I've seen. I want it to be fun. Hope you bring us some good news, Renn.

Would love to have a third Hellboy, to be honest; I found the second movie to be a hell of a lot better and fun, so to have a third one come out would be fucking amazing. It's Del Toro and Ron Perlman, two wonderful guys who can do no wrong in my opinion.

Don't wish to derail, but go ahead and toss any and all of your hopes for anything from Season of the Witch right out of the window.

I kinda expected Season of the Witch to be shit but at least Perlman got a pay check out of it. And consider me excited for GDT and Cameron to bring some Lovecraft to the screen. I got high hopes for this one.

Yeah, the AVClub review for SOTW was very unfavorable. Apparently Perlman's the only good thing in it, which is a shame.

Love the AVClub, but I don't give their reviews any weight. They hate a lot of things and try too hard.
