I am not doing it wrong, just differently. I prefer to recast with actors who would have been right for the role at the time the movie was released. This has been my recasting method in previous years RECASTING threads

Lauren, I think I love you. I often try and imagine an all female Ocean's 11.

I do that with every film to be honest. It's only disturbing when I attempt to do this with Peckinpah.

Not to pick on you, but if you want to play correctly with other people, it helps to adhere to the same rules as everyone else.

Joan Allen is terrible casting for that role, so that's doing wrong.

Femme Lethal Weapon makes a criminal waste of Vera Farmiga. But then, so do many Vera Farmiga movies.

Stripes (2011)

John Winger (Bill Murray) - Jason Sudeikis

Russell Ziske (Harold Ramis) - Bill Hader

Sgt. Hulka (Warren Oates) - Titus Welliver

Stella (PJ Soles) - Riki Lindhome

Louise (Sean Young) - Kaitlin Olson

Ox (John Candy) - Patton Oswalt

Capt. Stillman (John Larroquette) - Patrick Warburton

Drive Angry (1975)

Directed by Jack Starrett

Produced by Roger Corman

John Milton (Nic Cage) - Peter Fonda

Piper (Amber Heard) - Pam Grier

Jonah King (Billy Burke) - Warren Oates

The Accountant (William Fichtner) - David Carradine

Webster (David Morse) - Dick Miller

Candy (Charlotte Ross) - Barbara Hershey

Cap (Tom Atkins) - R.G. Armstrong

Fat Lou (Jack McGee) - Paul Bartel

Frank (Todd Farmer) - Sylvester Stallone

Mona (Christa Campbell) - Tamara Dobson

The characters didn't have names, but I'd make Richard Lynch and Barbara Steele the two right-hand "men" to Oates.

My point is there are no rules for this sort of thing other than to recast movies that are your favorites. I've been posting my method of recasting now for more than two years with zero complaint

This I like, except for Anthony Hopkins.  He has gotten lazy with some of his big roles. Why waste Alfred on a half-assed performance.  I like Jeremy Irons for this.

Is it okay if I just cast my fantasy Batman movie / movie series? Cool

BATMAN

Note: In this hypothetical, Baltimore is the filming location for Gotham City

Batman and Associates:

Bruce Wayne / Batman - Michael Fassbender, voiced in Batman costume by Kevin Conroy (This version of the batsuit conceals his chin, you see. Yeah, no one would probably go for that in a live action movie but... hey shut up, this is MY fantasy!... Yes I have thought this through kind of thoroughly... oh god... *cries quietly*)

Robin (who cares which one it is) - John Boyega (turned him black)

Barbara Gordon / Batgirl and/or Oracle - Jennifer Lawrence

Alfred Pennyworth - Anthony Stewart Head

Leslie Thompson - Khandi Alexander (turned her black)

Lucius Fox - Clarke Peters

GCPD

James Gordon - Bryan Cranston (he did the voice, but he must do it for real)

Renee Montoya - Michelle Rodriguez

Crispus Allen - Idris Elba

Harvey Bullock - Delaney Williams

Villains

Two-Face - Michael Shannon

Penguin - Philip Seymour Hoffman (yeah I know everyone tossed it around and I'm not original be quiet please)

Poison Ivy - Christina Hendricks

Ventriloquist and Scarface - Richard Jenkins and Tom Kenny, respectively

Killer Croc - Ron Perlman in heavy makeup (is there any other kind of Ron Perlman?)

Scarecrow - Doug Jones (he's never seen out of costume), voiced by Alec Willows

I read "turned her black!" as "treat yo'self!"

The only flaw with Femme Lethal Weapon is Gabrielle Union.  She's too young to be getting too old for this shit.  Pam Grier or Angela Bassett, please.

OOh... nice call. But I need more Gabrielle Union in my life. Can she be the Chris Rock character in Femme Lethal Weapon 4?

How's about Angela Bassett as Murtaugh, and Pam Grier as Hunsaker? They're first Gulf War, Riggs is second. And I'll accept Union replacing Rock. If only because I have to fit her in there somewhere, my lust demands it.

This could also make recasting Murtaugh's family easier as well. So I feel all educated and shit!

Bassett makes the whole thing more interesting, to me. But who's the femme Pesci? I vote Amy Sedaris.

 'Batman: The Dark Knight Returns'

based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller.

1989

Dir. Dario Argetno

Bruce Wayne/Batman: Rutger Hauer

The Joker: Malcom Mcdowell

Commisioner Gordon: Udo Kier

Two Face: Lars Hendrikson

Alfred Pennyworth: Vincent Price

Robin: Asia Argento

Superman: Peter Weller

Actually with the exception of Asia and Vincent, you could swap all of these guys around and have virtually the same movie...

That would certainly make for one insane Batman movie.

  RE: The Dark Knight Returns

This imaginary movie was imaginarily trashed by critics for the terrible dubbing job for all of Haeur's lines. It developed a strong cult following and did well overseas.

Frank Miller hated it and vowed never to allow another one of his properties to be adapted. Eventually, he allowed all of his properties to be adapted.

Argento took the project after Tim Burton, Alejandro Jodorwosky, Richard Donner, John Boorman,  and David Lynch failed to stay attached to the film. During the Jodorwosky production, Mick Jagger was slated to play the Joker. Jagger reportedly asked to never have to show up on set, but rather have his scenes shot on locations around the world as his band The Rolling Stones was on tour. These scenes were to be inserted into the final film. Jodorwosky's pre-production art went 250 million dollars over-budget and almost bankrupt WB. Some of the concept art based on drawings by French cartoonist Mobius were used in the final film, or at least that's what the studio said at that years' ComicCon,  but not really.

Trivia : Initially Klaus Kinski was cast as the Joker for Argento's production and 70% percent of his scenes were in the can before he became increasingly deluded that he was actually Mick Jagger and attempted to perform with The Rolling Stones and was involved in numerous altercations with the real Mick Jagger. He scenes were reshot with Kier.

I fucking LOVE the idea of Price as Alfred. Burton should cry himself to sleep tonight for missing that opportunity.

Now I'm depressed about the fact that Harris probably won't be sequalizing Appaloosa.

This is great; however, in 2011, everyone in this cast should be asking "What's a newspaper?"

The Rocky Horror Picture Show 2011

Dr Frank-N-Furter            Hugh Jackman

Janet Weiss                     Allison Brie

Brad Majors                     Chris Evans

Riff Raff                           Justin Hawkins

Magenta                          Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Columbia                         Kat Dennings

Rocky Horror                  Ashton Kutcher

Eddie                              Bret Michaels

Criminologist                   Chevy Chase

Dr Scott                          Christopher Walken

If this movie actually existed, you would see Allison Brie half naked singing touchy touchy touch me/ I wanna be dirty. Your welcome Community fans.

I know a lot of people hate Bret Michaels and Poison. I'm not one of them. He can sing, and ride a motorcycle, so it could work.

Holy shit...I am fucking in love with that casting. Nice! Just the thought of Brie & Dennings prancing about in nipple-peaking corsets & boas...Christ!

Though, I'd switch out Bret Michaels for Dave Grohl & Ashton Kutcher for Tom Hardy or Chris Hemsworth.

Thanks Art. I'm cool with Dave Grohl as Eddie. The Foo Fighters are awesome! Ashton as Rocky plays to his strengths; he looks like a model, and he doesn't have to speak.

Jurassic Park

Dr. Alan Grant - Michael Fassbender

Robert Muldoon - Tom Hardy

Ian Malcom - James Franco

Denis Nedry - Nick Frost (My first choice was Jonah Hill when he was still fat)

Ellie Sattler - Naomi Watts

Hammond - Michael Caine

I really had a tough time with the last two.

I haven't seen it. What do I know?

Haven't been in this game for a while, figured I can get back in with one I've been thinking about for a while now, in an edgier incarnation:

Bradley Cooper as Billy Caulfield

Bryan Cranston as Henry Sikorsky

John Lithgow as Jack McDermott

Patton Oswalt as Albert Ianuzzi

Kyle Chandler as Dr. Weitzman

Julie Forester                          Sigourney Weaver

Deputy Fallen                          Jim Brown

Novak                                      Bruce Campbell

Derrick Jones                           William Atherton

Mr Goodman                            Vincent Price

Wet T Shirt Host                      William Zabka

Jake Forester                           William Ragsdale

Kelly                                         Sherilyn Fenn

Danni                                       Linnea Quigley

Crystal                                    Ginger Lynn Allen

Corey Haim and Corey Feldman as the Forester kids.

Richard Dreyfess still plays the same cameo role.

I'm keeping Dreyfess because it would still be funny. Its not an 80's flick without the Coreys.

I'm going to put forward an alternate version of TOTAL RECALL I've been mulling over these past few days. The script would be completely the same, I am only recasting roles for 2011. I have recast every character I can think of:

RAY STEVENSON as Douglas Quaid

ray-stevenson-entrevista1.jpg

I feel he would be perfect. He'd sell the jolly working stiff we meet at the beginning, and then be able to perfectly capture his horror and confusion as the world as he knows it - his life as he knows it - comes crashing down around him. Over the course of the film, he'd also unquestionably be able to pull off Quaid's evolution into full on action hero. I think he could embody that dichotomy better than Arnold, who to my mind always made for an unlikely construction worker. BTW: He would use his native accent

RACHEL WEISZ as Mrs Quaid

Rachel-Weisz.jpg

She'd be aces! Sweet, sinister, she can do it all

BRYAN CRANSTON as Construction Buddy (Who Sounds Like Danny Devito In The Original)

BryanCranstonPremiereAMCWalkingDeadArrivals8qwYCeXx65Yl.jpg

"You blabbed, Quaid! You blabbed about Mars!"

BILL MAHER as Recall Salesman

bill-maher.jpg

He's a good actor, and I think he'd sell the smarmy charm perfectly. Bill needs to return to acting in a big way, and a bit part like this would give him a chance to shine in a smaller role

OLIVIA THIRLBY as Recall Secretary

olivia-thirlby.jpg

EDWARD JAMES OLMOS as Kuato

Edward-James-Olmos-as-AdmiralWilliamAdama.jpg

His bulk could hide a twin

BEN FOSTER as Mutant Bar Man

76213249_10.jpg

ASHRAF BARHOM as Benny the Cabby (I was going to cast Bill Maher in this role based on his time on DC CAB but thought he'd be better at Recall as the salesman)

2738773064_2593c9acaf.jpg

"Hey man, I got FIVE kids to feed!"

CAMPBELL SCOTT as the villainous Cohagen

50355_40969439786_6060123_n.jpg

I can totally buy him as someone who'd asphyxiate the poor for profit

MELISSA GEORGE as Quaid's Martian Friend

melissa-george.jpg

She's great and deserves more exposure. She'd have excellent chemistry with Stevenson (and could handle herself in a fight)

last but not least Jason Isaacs as Richter

I would tonight like to bring now to you my epic recasting of Rudyard Kipling's THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING for the year 2011

Danny: COLIN FARRELL

db477be8.jpg

Peachy: CHRISTIAN BALE

Kipling: MICHAEL FASSBENDER

Billy Fish: ASHRAF BARHOM

Roxanne: ROSARIO DAWSON

b82a4eb4.jpg

Obviously this would be an incredible team, and the only one I can imagine that would do justice to the original roles. I think Farrell and Bale would have that Connery - Caine charisma and chemistry. Last but not least, the synergy in casting with Oliver Stone's ALEXANDER would be too delicious for words: IMHO it perfectly suits the characters, and would just be amazing in general

DIRECTOR: NEIL MARSHAL
