Axel, swap out Rockwell for Jeremy Renner and you've got a deal.

He talks to a noted Italian filmmaker, and since they don't know whether it will spawn sequels or not, they go for broke with an epic film, and we get

SERGIO LEONE's IL BATMAN

STARRING

Henry Silva as Bruce Wayne/Batman

Klaus Kinski as Jack Napier/The Joker

Franco Nero as Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze

Fabio Testi as Harvey Dent/Two-Face

Vincent Price as Alfred Pennyworth

Mario Brega as Harvey Bullock

Claudia Cardinale as Vicki Vale

Rosalba Neri as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Telly Savalas as Rupert Thorn

David Hemmings as Jervis Tetch/The Mad Hatter

William Finley as Dr. Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow

Oliver Reed as Commissioner Gordon

Richard Kiel as Solomon Grundy

With Charles Bronson as Matt Hagen/Clayface

And Lee Van Cleef as Ras Ahl Ghul

Rene, you mad genius! Was this another one of those eight-hour deals for Leone?

TRIVIA: Dino De Laurentiis strongly insisted on including a "strongman" villain who could match both Batman's intelligence and physique, with the demand that he wear a mask. Thus, bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger was cast as the hulking criminal genius Bane, who was then adopted into the character's rogue gallery by DC.

Further, Woody Strode appears as Lucius Fox, a Wayne Enterprises executive who'd just debuted in the comics around the same time, while Ernest Borgnine earned the production's biggest paycheck in the role of Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a. The Penguin.

And from the "Recast Classics" vault: my 2010 reimagining of Walter Hill's Extreme Prejudice, slightly modified, directed by James Mangold and written by Mark Boal:

Christian Bale as Jack Benteen
Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Cash Bailey
Bryan Cranston as Maj. Paul Hackett
Alice Braga as Sarita Cisneros
Tom Berenger as Sheriff Hank Pearson
Ray Stevenson as MSgt. Larry McRose
Walton Goggins as Sgt. Buck Atwater
Todd Farmer as SSgt. Declan Patrick Coker
Michael Jai White as Sgt. Charles Biddle
Erik King as Sgt. Luther Fry
Terry Crews as Monday
Danny Trejo as Lupo
Clifton Collins Jr. as Deputy Cortez

Of course it's an 8 hour epic!

I was actually thinking of including Bane and The Penguin, along with Woody Strode somewhere in there! Then I thought against it, and you scooped them up with good casting!

I was thinking Lou Ferrigno for Bane, but I dig Arnold also, as he's charismatic and when he wants to, he can be villainous.

Jeremy Renner more Castor Troy than Sam Rockwell?  I must disagree.

With regards to Little Shop, I stand by my hope of Jim Carrey or Paul Rudd as Scrivello. Michael C. Hall conveys an interesting irony for Denton, but I still think Steve Carell should have the part.

I was considering Wayne, but I figured the Duke would never agree to star in a anti-war film like First Blood. Plus Bronson and Fonda have that Once Upon a Time in the West history.

In an age of fear, paranoia, and widespread distrust of the government, director John Frankenheimer begins production on a new conspiracy-driven action-thriller that acutely channels the national atmosphere. In making a spy drama with none of the sci-fi trappings or far-fetched elements of the James Bond franchise, Frankenheimer enlists up-and-coming novelist Robert Ludlum to pen the first film in a planned trilogy centering around a CIA-trained killer with memory problems . . .

After John Wayne reads the script for 1941 and tells Steven Spielberg "You know, that was an important war, and you're making fun of a war that cost thousands of lives at Pearl Harbor. Don't joke about World War II", the director decides to abandon the project and handle a film that Dan Aykroyd, who was going to star in 1941, was writing. Spielberg didn't like the idea of a group of Ghostsmashers that traveled through time, space and other dimensions combating huge ghosts so he changed the script to a basic, science-fiction oriented screenplay. The film, realesed in 1979, had a great success and critical reception, winning the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Another past recast (goofy, but I like it):

In 1985, John Milius, the architect and creative force behind Dirty Harry, is reeling from the Red Dawn backlash. Undeterred, and after noting the success of 48 Hrs. and Sudden Impact he decides to return to the genre that made his reputation and deliver the definitive "buddy cop" film. Retooling a script by a young writer named Shane Black, that movie is...

Lethal Weapon

Detective Roger Murtaugh: Sean Connery

General Peter McAllister: Brian Keith

But didn't Anne Hathaway pretty much already play Queen Frostine in Alice in Wonderland?

King Buzzo, J.Mascus, Mark Arm and Dave Grohl back up Vedder as the reformed Grunge Brothers Band.

They play sludgy, rock versions of classic new wave and punk songs as well as contemporary alternative hits. The soundtrack: Garbage Can Full of Grunge goes Platinum and revives the careers of many  forgotten artists.
